Therapeutic Pillow and Method of Manufacture Thereof
The present disclosure provides a specially adapted pillow, and method of manufacture thereof, which compensates for the difference in height between the lower shoulder and neck/head of a user resting on their side by providing a centrally located indent which spans the entire thickness of the pillow and which is configured to receive the lower shoulder of a user, thereby, maintaining a greater difference in height between shoulder support and neck support. The pillow may be provided as a therapeutic pillow for sufferer's of vertigo and neck pain.
Pillow
The present application discloses a pillow, the pillow includes a pillow body; a first raised portion disposed on a first side of the pillow body and having a first raised height so as to support a neck of a human body in a supine position; and a second raised portion disposed on a side of the pillow body and having a second raised height so as to support the neck of the human body in a lateral position; wherein the first height is less than the second height. In the present application, the first side of the pillow body is provided with raised portions with different positions, which can meet the different requirements of heights of the pillow of human body in different sleeping positions, the structure is simple, and is helpful for human head to relax and improve sleep quality.
SUPPORT PILLOW
A support pillow for supporting the head of a person. The pillow includes a base portion having opposing front and rear edge portions, opposing first and second side peripheral portions and a central curved portion configured to round upward from the front and rear edge portions to support against a back of the person's head. First and second opposing supporting members, respectively extending from the opposing first and second side end peripheral portions of the base portion are provided. Each first and second opposing supporting member extends angularly and upwardly respectively from the opposing first and second side end peripheral portions of the base portion. Each first and second opposing supporting member is separated from one another such that a majority portion of the central curved portion of the base portion is disposed within a region extending between each first and second supporting members. A detachable and adjustable elongated neck support member is provided having opposing first and second ends configured for engagement with the base portion whereby the elongated neck support member extends between the first and second side peripheral portions of the base portion.
Variable contour pillow and method of making the same
Variable contour pillow and method of making the same, comprising: a pillow cover preferably with internal seams, a plurality of internal interconnecting members that define the thickness and/or taper of the pillow in desired locations along the length and/or width of the pillow, the method comprising steps of attaching the interconnecting members during the process of filling the pillow, alternately preferably hand filling behind an interconnecting member, interconnecting the interconnecting member, filling in front of the first interconnecting member and a next interconnecting member, interconnecting the next interconnecting member, and so on, until the pillow is completely filled and desired multiple levels of fill and/or surface tapers are achieved, with specific application to construction of a form-fitting body pillow with variable shape and thickness of fill material.
CERVICAL SPINE SUPPORTING PILLOW AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
The present disclosure relates to a cervical spine supporting pillow and a method of manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a cervical spine supporting pillow including: a first support layer formed to have a predetermined area so that a cervical spine and an occipital region of a user may be seated thereon; a second support layer formed with a plurality of air vents in a front surface and a rear surface thereof; and a third support layer formed to support the first support layer and the second support layer, wherein the third support layer, the second support layer, and the first support layer are sequentially stacked from bottom to top.
Cranial positioning device with a neuromuscular effect for the purpose of sea-sickness relief
This device is a positioning device which positions the head in a way that allows for the relaxation and associated limiting of neural inputs to the lateral sternocleidomastoid muscle. The lateral sternocleidomastoid (to be known as lateral SCM) has been described as a proprioceptive muscle that has a feedback system which may be associated with nautical nausea. This device is shaped much like a pillow and places the user's head in a position which relaxes the lateral SCM muscle and further limits certain neural inputs into said muscle, which subsequently decreases the activity in the cranial feedback system that is associated with this nausea. The end result of this positioning and subsequent lack of neural inputs is an effective relief from nausea associated with typical sea-sickness. The user is required to use the device in a specific manner, which includes 90 seconds of relaxation of the neck and associated resting of the head on the device.
Cranial positioning device with a lymphatic drainage augmentation that causes relief of various feelings associated with a typical hangover
This device is a mechanical positioning device which positions the head in a way that allows for the relaxation and associated limiting of neural inputs to the left medial sternocleidomastoid muscle. The left-sided medial sternocleidomastoid (to be further referred to as medial SCM) is most commonly positioned in close proximity to the thoracic duct in such a way that muscle spasms of the medial SCM are suspected to play a role in limiting function of the thoracic duct and subsequently some feelings associated the typical symptoms of a “hangover” following the consumption of ethanol. The thoracic duct can be described as the main lymphatic drainage point of the human head. This device is capable of relieving muscle spasm in the medial SCM muscle which augment the function of the thoracic duct in such a way that has a positive effect on those experiencing hangover symptoms. This device is shaped much like a pillow and places the user's head in a unique position which relaxes the medial SCM muscle, augments lymphatic flow from the cranium, which subsequently has an effect of symptom relief during periods of lymphatic cranial congestion, for example when someone has a “hangover.”
Side sleeper anti-snoring and sleep apnea pillow
A pillow for treating snoring and/or sleep apnea features at least one head recess having a bottom area for receiving and supporting a lateral side of a user's face, and a peripheral area spanning upwardly from the bottom area at a perimeter thereof. A neck channel extends from the head recess. The peripheral area of the head recess includes a chin region that reaches laterally outward from the neck channel at an angle and orientation such that the user's cervical spine resides in a relaxed non-extended state, and the user's mandible is maintained in a closed position. In embodiments for couples, first and second head recesses in the top of one pillow face inwardly toward one another, and third and fourth head recesses in either the bottom of the same pillow or the top of a separate pillow bottom surface face outwardly away from one another.
THERAPEUTIC CUSHION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An apparatus includes a therapeutic cushion including a body support portion, a head support portion and a back support portion. The body support portion has a first end portion and a second end portion and a top surface disposed at an angle relative to a bottom surface. The second end portion has a height greater than a height of the first end portion. The body support portion and the head support portion collectively define a receiving portion configured to receive a user's arm therein and is asymmetric relative to a centerline of the apparatus. The back support is disposed on a portion of the top surface of the body support portion. The back support is configured to maintain the user in a side position on the therapeutic cushion.
TRAVEL PILLOW
The travel pillow assembly includes a travel pillow designed to provide optimal head support for the user in erect and supine positions. The travel pillow is configured with a hole to securely support the occiput and is tapered in a manner that maintains the user's neck and head in proper alignment. The travel pillow assembly is constructed of single piece foam which is firm enough and contoured to prevent head turning and neck torsion. The travel pillow assembly also includes an adjustable strap that may be used to provide supplemental support to the head.
