Wheat with increased resistant starch levels

A series of independent human-induced non-transgenic mutations found at one or more of the SBEII genes of wheat; wheat plants having these mutations in one or more of their SBEII genes; and a method of creating and finding similar and/or additional mutations of SBEII by screening pooled and/or individual wheat plants. The seeds and flour from the wheat plants of the present invention exhibit an increase in amylose and resistant starch without having the inclusion of foreign nucleic acids in their genomes. Additionally, the wheat plants of the present invention exhibit altered SBEII activity without having the inclusion of foreign nucleic acids in their genomes.

Starch-containing adhesive compositions and uses thereof

The invention relates to aqueous adhesive compositions comprising a starch, in particular to starch-based adhesives for bonding paper products. Provided is an aqueous adhesive composition comprising a starch derivative and a clay, wherein said starch derivative is a highly branched starch (HBS) obtained by treatment of starch or starch derivatives with a glycogen branching enzyme (EC 2.4.1.18), and wherein the weight ratio of said HBS to said clay is within the range of from about 1:1 to 1:4.

Treatment Of Stroke With 1,4-Alpha-Glucan-Branching Enzyme (GBE1) Inhibitors

The present disclosure generally relates to the treatment of subjects having a stroke or at risk of developing a stroke by administering a 1,4-alpha-glucan-branching enzyme (GBE1) inhibitor to the subject.

HIGH AMYLOSE WHEAT - II

Wheat grain (Triticum aestivum) comprising an embryo and starch, wherein the embryo comprises two identical alleles of an SBEIIa-A gene, two identical alleles of an SBEIIa-B gene and two identical alleles of an SBEIIa-D gene, wherein each of the SBEIIa genes gives rise to an amount of protein (w/w) or a protein having SBEIIa activity which is lower than the corresponding wild-type gene, and at least one of said genes comprises a point mutation, wherein the starch comprises amylose such that the grain has an amylose content of at least 50% (w/w) as a proportion of the extractable starch of the grain.

Method for industrially producing cyclic-structure-containing branched glucan

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for industrially producing a branched glucan having a cyclic structure. The method for producing a branched glucan having a cyclic structure comprises the steps of: (1) preparing a mixed liquid which contains a branching enzyme in which starch granules are suspended at a concentration of 5% by weight or more and 50% by weight or less, and allowing the branching enzyme to act on starch in the starch granules, wherein a temperature of the mixed liquid at the time of preparation is 0 C. or higher and not higher than the gelatinization starting temperature of the starch granule; and (2) elevating the temperature of the mixed liquid to 85 C. or higher and 129 C. or lower, wherein in the method, none of -amylase, -amylase, amyloglucosidase and transglucosidase is added to the mixed liquid.
