The red azo colorants contain a heterocycle that includes one nitrogen atom and one sulfur atom and are free from electron-withdrawing groups on the heterocycle. Seeds for use in horticultural/agriculture applications that are coated with the heterocyclic azo colorants provide anti-counterfeiting properties to the coated seeds. A color change phenomenon is observed when the coated seeds are exposed to an acidic material, such as vinegar, and provides evidence of the authenticity of the coated seeds. The invention also relates to agricultural formulations containing the heterocyclic red azo colorants that can be used as an anti-counterfeit agents.

The planter system also includes a sensor configured to transmit a detection signal upon detection of the seed passing a detection location. The planter system also includes a control system configured to determine a travel time of the seed from the detection location to a furrow based on a baseline drop time for the seed, a baseline travel speed of the seeder assembly, and an operating travel speed of the seeder assembly. The control system is configured to transmit a control signal to a valve coupled to a nozzle assembly based on the travel time and the detection signal to spray the fluid on or adjacent the seed.

Gas outlet ports and mixing baffles may be disposed within the conveyor. A liquid channel may be disposed within a mixing baffle to direct flow of treatment from the liquid port to an outlet port in contact with the seed bed.

The present invention relates to Bacillus methylotrophicus strain DR-08 which produces a natural volatile compound and has antimicrobial activity, and a use thereof. The Bacillus methylotrophicus strain DR-08 according to the present invention, which is an antagonistic microorganism for controlling phytopathogenic microorganisms, and secondary metabolites produced by the strain, which include antibacterially- and antifungally-active non-volatile and volatile materials, are harmless to humans and domestic animals, and exhibit excellent control activity against various phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi while not causing environmental pollution. Thus, the strain and the secondary metabolites can be very usefully used for controlling various plant diseases in an environmentally-friendly manner.
