Plate carrier absorption of shock from movement of wearer
11243050 · 2022-02-08 · ·

A plate carrier (such as a vest) is provided having shock absorption capabilities for absorbing shock in response to movement of a plate within the carrier resulting from movement of the wearer. The plate carrier can include a cradle that supports the plate within a pocket from underneath. Stretchable material may be incorporated into the cradle to provide shock absorption. For example, the cradle may include a limit strap hanging to form a first loop and a shock-absorption strap hanging to form a second loop spaced above the first loop. The shock-absorption strap may be formed from a material more stretchable than the limit strap, for example, so that the limit strap provides a limit of plate deflection and shock absorption provided.

Flexible cushioning pads, items incorporating such pads, and methods of making and using

Disclosed herein are conformable protection pads, which can be integrated into articles such as clothing and protective cases. An exemplary cushioning pad can include an upper layer and a lower layer and cushioning material therebetween in a first cushioning region and one or more second cushioning regions, and one or more grooves between the first cushioning region and the second cushioning regions to enable articulation of the second cushioning regions relative to the first cushioning region.

An article of apparel has a surface with a first part of a fastening system, and an attachment element has an outer area with a second part of the fastening system. The first part of the fastening system is joinable to the second part of the fastening system to attach the attachment element to the apparel. The first part of the fastening system is also separable from the second part of the fastening system to separate the attachment element from the apparel. The attachment element may be formed from a polymer foam material, may include a fluid-filled chamber, or may incorporate an electronic device, for example. In some configurations, the attachment element is secured to an exterior of the apparel. In other configurations, the attachment element is secured between two layers of the apparel.

Hinged leg guard

The present invention relates to a hinged leg guard that may be used by catchers in diamond sports like baseball or softball. The hinged leg guard preferably includes a thigh guard, knee guard, shin guard that may be attached to one another by a flexible fabric. The thigh guard and shin guard also are preferably attached to a double hinge member that allows them to move relative to the knee guard. The knee guard also is preferably coupled to the double hinge member. When the hinged leg guard alternates between the extended and contracted position, an extension member of the knee guard preferably translates in one translational degree of freedom within a receiver of the hinge member. The translational movement preferably helps to keep the knee guard adjacent to the knee when a wearer crouches.

Protective equipment

The present application provides a protective apparatus that includes a left and a right generally arched shaped portion with a foam padding system. The foam padding system comprising an adjustable channel that accommodates a shape of a shoulder, the foam padding system including a shoulder pad removably attached to an upper end of at least one of the generally arched shaped portions, and a pair of adjustable body pads removably attached to beneath the shoulder pad in a variable configuration that creates the adjustable channel.

Aspects herein are directed to a fluid-filled pad for a protective garment. The fluid-filled pad includes two or more elongate voids that extend entirely through the fluid-filled pad. The elongate voids are positioned inward from an exterior edge of a first surface of the fluid-filled pad, and one elongate void extends from another elongate at an angle that is less than 180 degrees. Other aspects are directed to a protective garment system in which the fluid-filled pad is positioned between a first textile layer and a second textile layer of a garment.

Pad for a garment, padded garment and method of manufacturing same

A pad for a garment includes a one piece structure comprising interconnected elements made from a compressible material. The elements are arranged such that, when the pad is in a non-deformed state, each element is spaced apart from adjacent elements by a void. The elements are interconnected such that, when the pad is deformed, a zigzag arrangement of at least three elements is formed and/or a void enclosed by at least two adjacent elements expands.
