COMPRESSION GARMENT FOR NEUROLOGICAL AND CIRCULATORY DISORDERS
A compression garment for a neurological disorder includes a body portion and a pad. The body portion may be operable to wrap around a foot and the pad can attach to an inner surface of the body portion. The pad can include an outward protrusion and/or an inward recess. A guide sleeve may be dimensioned to wrap together with the body portion around the foot, the pad being disposable between the body portion and the guide sleeve. A first tensioning band may be attached onto to first and second locations of the body portion and be operable to secure opposing first and second portions of the inner surface of the body portion to secure the outward protrusion and/or recess of the pad against the abductor hallucis and flexor hallucis brevis muscles of the foot. The outward protrusion can include a receiver for the metatarsal head.
Self-sustaining piezoelectric assembly
A self-sustaining piezoelectric assembly is disclosed herein for providing electrical stimulation to nerves near the surface of the skin. The assembly comprises a non-conductive mat having an aperture and a piezoelectric device positioned to fill at least a portion of the aperture. A flexible conductive material is position to be in electrical contact with a first and a second primary surface of the piezoelectric device, and with the surface of the skin, providing an electric current to the skin when the piezoelectric is mechanically compressed.
PODIATRIC PRESSURE UNLOADING DEVICE
A pressure unloading device for unloading pressure on a pathological prominence of the foot includes a securement and a spacer. The securement wraps around a portion of a foot and secures a spacer to a region of the foot proximate to a pathological prominence in order to unload pressure on the prominence. Pressure unloading devices can further include footwear, such as a shoe or other footwear or footwear liner having voids and/or spacers.
Strobel for an article of footwear and method of manufacturing
An article of footwear and a method of manufacturing an article of footwear includes a strobel having a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region. The strobel may define a forefoot through hole in the forefoot region and a heel through hole in the heel region. The shape, the position, or both the shape and the position of the forefoot through hole and the heel through hole may be based on a foot pressure map. A method of manufacturing an article of footwear comprises securing a midsole to a strobel, wherein the strobel has a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region, the strobel defines a forefoot through hole in the forefoot region and a heel through hole in the heel region, and the shape and/or position of the forefoot through hole and the heel through hole are based on a foot pressure map.
FRICTION REDUCING DEVICES AND ORTHOPEDIC FOOT INSERTS
Disclosure herein are protective bandage and methods of use and manufacture thereof. The protective bandages can include first and second flexible films and a shear-reducing element. The first flexible film may form a contact layer having a first side opposite a second side. The second flexible film may form a dome attached to and extending over a portion of the first side of the contact layer. The dome may have a height at least partially defined by a side wall and a top portion of the second flexible film. The contact layer may extend beneath the dome and the top portion being freely movable along the first side of the contact layer through a distance related to the height. The shear-reducing element is located inside the hollow dome.
SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVING BLOOD CIRCULATION
A system for improving blood circulation, the system comprising a control unit comprising a processor and at least one article of footwear wherein one or more of the at least one articles of footwear together or alone comprise: one or more actuators coupled to and controlled by the control unit; one or more electrically-conductive paths; one or more sensors integrated into the at least one article of footwear and coupled to the processor, for providing measurement signals to the control unit; and the system further comprising an electrical power supply for supplying electrical power to the one or more sensors by means of the one or more electrically-conductive paths.
SHOE
A shoe includes: an upper in which an upper middle foot portion covering a middle foot portion of a foot of a wearer, an upper rear foot portion covering a heel portion of the foot, and a foot insertion opening for inserting the foot are formed; a sole located below the upper; a first support member disposed below a medial longitudinal arch of the foot inside the upper and including a lateral foot side portion fixed to the upper or the sole; and a first pulling-up member connected to a medial foot side portion of the first support member and enabled to apply, to the first support member, force for pulling up the first support member in a direction toward the upper rear foot portion and away from the sole.
Systems and Methods for Generating Nitric Oxide
Systems and methods for generating nitric oxide are disclosed. A nitic oxide (NO) generation system includes at least one pair of electrodes configured to generate a product gas containing NO from a flow of a reactant gas; and a controller configured to regulate the amount of nitric oxide in the product gas produced by the at least one pair of electrodes by utilizing duty cycle values of plasma pulses selected from a plurality of discrete duty cycles to produce a target rate of NO production based on an average of discrete production rates associated with each of the plurality of discrete duty cycles.
VIBRATIONAL DEVICE AND METHODS FOR MITIGATING SYMPTOMS OF FREEZING OF GAIT
A device adapted to be secured to the foot of a user includes one or more vibration actuators configured to provide vibrations to the user's foot, one or more force or acceleration sensors configured to sense forces or acceleration exerted by the user's foot, and a controller configured to operate the vibration actuators in a continuous mode to provide intermittent vibration to the user's foot independent of information sensed by the force or acceleration sensors. The vibration includes a first period of continuous vibration followed by a second period of no vibration followed by a third period of continuous vibration. The device may also be configured to operate in a feedback mode.
Dual-layer insole apparatuses for diabetic foot lesion prevention and related methods
Dual-layer insole apparatuses for diabetic foot lesion prevention and related methods are provided. Some insole apparatuses have a body defining a plurality of cavities configured to be coupled to a fluid source. The fluid source can deliver fluid to vary internal pressures of the cavities. The body further defines an insole-shaped structure.
