Basket-Type Gemstone Setting
Provided is, among other things, a gemstone setting that includes a basket portion and a retaining member. The basket portion has: 1) a top peripheral structure, 2) a bottom peripheral structure, and 3) a support structure connecting the top peripheral structure and the bottom peripheral structure. The retaining member includes a retaining structure and two inserts, with the retaining structure extending between and upwardly above the inserts and also extending inwardly. A pair of openings for accommodating the inserts is provided in the basket portion. The inserts are disposed within the openings, and the retaining member is permanently bonded to the attachment structure.

The present invention relates to accessories for which small gemstones can be utilized and a method for manufacturing same. The technical gist of the present invention is to firmly fix small gemstones, which are difficult to use due to the small size thereof, to accessories (rings, bracelets, or earrings) by a simple method, and minimize the deformation of earrings due to heat by welding a wire to the earrings with laser, thereby reducing manufacturing cost and increasing completeness of products (accessories).

The technical gist of the present invention is to firmly fix small gemstones, which are difficult to use due to the small size thereof, to accessories (rings, bracelets, or earrings) by a simple method, and minimize the deformation of earrings due to heat by welding a wire to the earrings with laser, thereby reducing manufacturing cost and increasing completeness of products (accessories).

Jewelry bezel settings have a band defining an aperture shaped to receive a stone. The band has a flange defining an upper opening and a pavilion-facing interior surface defining a lower opening. The flange extends radially inward a pre-selected distance to sit on a top edge of a girdle of the stone, and the pavilion-facing interior surface is angled to seat against facets of the stone. A channel is formed in and extends around an interior perimeter of the band between the flange and the pavilion-facing interior surface, and a cured material fills the channel and defines a plurality of pavilion facet-mating surfaces. The cured material defines a layer having a preselected color selected to enhance a brilliance of the stone.

A device for attaching a jewel or ornament to a hinge of a pair of eyeglasses having a threaded shank portion compatible with an eyeglass hinge threaded hole, a crown disposed at a top end of the threaded shank portion, and a drive tool receiver, such as a slot or crosspoint, disposed at the bottom end of the threaded shank portion. The device is installed into a threaded hole in a hinge by turning it with a tool which is inserted into the bottom of the hinge and rotating in an opposite direction of normal screw installation, thereby leaving the crown portion at the top of the screw available to hold a jewel or ornament while avoiding placing possible damaging torque and force on the jewel or ornament.

A jewelry piece having a body or housing that defines a cavity sized and shaped to removably receive an interchangeable ornament and a cover or back connected to the body, such that the jewelry piece may be opened or closed. The body and cover magnetically and mechanically engage when the jewelry piece is closed to secure the ornament without the need for excessive force or an additional tool. The magnetic engagement is accomplished by magnets that are located opposite each other when the jewelry piece is closed. The mechanical engagement is accomplished by interlocking mating elements that combine to define a bail when the jewelry piece is closed.

A jewelry item includes a ring-shaped base, a single center setting and a plurality of side settings. The ring-shaped base has a central opening and a central axis. The single center setting has a plurality of primary prongs for securing a center stone. The plurality of side settings is configured for securing an equal plurality of side stones around a perimeter of the center setting, wherein each side setting includes first and second adjacent inner secondary prongs and first and second adjacent outer secondary prongs. The jewelry item may be a ring having a band to be worn about a finger of a person. Shoulders and struts may secure the ring-shaped base above the band.
