A garment convertible to a bag includes a base member, a first sleeve member extending from the base member, a second sleeve member extending from the base member, and at least one body member extending from the base member. At least one of the base member, the first sleeve member, the second sleeve member, and the at least one body member is configured to be attachably and detachably coupled to at least another of the base member, the first sleeve member, the second sleeve member, and the at least one body member so as to define the bag.

A convertible garment, such as a jacket, tunic, sweater or vest, capable of being folded and converted into a carry-on bag and adapted for carrying articles normally carried in a handbag, briefcase, carry-on bag or suitcase, with pockets on the outside and in the lining portion of the garment, arranged so that the garment is not distorted by items carried within said pockets. The garment also has a back panel accessible from inside of the garment for carrying articles such as socks, underwear, shirts and trousers, with special compartments for such clothes. Zippers and hook and loop fasteners are used as closures for some of the pockets. A method for folding the garment and converting it into a conventional carry-on bag is also disclosed.

An integral jacket backpack assembly includes a jacket for draping over a wearer. The jacket has an outer surface with a front section covering the front of the wearer and back section covering the back of the wearer. The backpack has a front surface and a back surface with the front surface abutting the jacket outer surface back section when the jacket is draped over a wearer. The center of the backpack front surface connects to the center of the jacket outer surface back section to connect the jacket to the backpack.
