A cooking appliance is provided. The cooking appliance comprises a cooker body for receiving food and a lid for covering the cooker body. The cooking appliance has a front side for facilitating cooking operations and a rear side spaced apart from the front side. The cooker body comprises at least one latch slot disposed on an inclined rear side of the cooker body. The lid comprises at least one latch bar disposed on a periphery thereof and extending outwardly therefrom. When the lid is detached from the cooker body, the latch bar is operable to be inserted into the corresponding latch slot to secure the lid at the inclined rear side of the cooker body, allowing a user to secure the lid to the latch slot without reaching a rear side of the cooker body by hand, and to retrieve the food without accidentally contacting the lid.

A pressure cooking appliance is provided. The pressure cooking appliance comprises a cooker body and a lid, the lid comprising an upper lid portion, and a lower lid portion lockingly covering the cooker body to form a pressurized cooking chamber therebetween. The upper lid portion covers the lower lid portion from above, and comprises a main lid body and a removable cover, the main lid body comprising an opening portion formed at a central portion of the main lid body for exposing the lower lid portion, the removable cover being removably attachable to the opening portion and operable to expose a portion of the lower lid portion for accelerated cooling of the cooking chamber and speeding up wait time for opening the lid. Further, cooling towel or cooling pack can be placed at the opening portion to help with cooling and allow food to be enjoyed sooner.

The invention concerns a food preparation device 1 comprising a food preparation pot 2, a heating element 3 for heating food 4 in the food preparation pot 2, a tool 5 for blending and/or comminuting food 4 in the food preparation pot 2, a lid 6, 7 for the food preparation pot 2, and an electric motor 8 for rotating the tool 5. A monitoring unit monitors a power input of the electric motor 8 for detecting an overpressure in the food preparation pot 2. The invention also concerns a method and a computer program product. A very reliable detection of overpressure can thereby be enabled.

Disclosed herein is a cooking system for cooking food, the system including a housing defining a hollow chamber configured to receive a food container. The housing has an upper portion defining an opening to the hollow chamber. A lid is attachable about the upper portion of the housing and is configured to extend across the opening to the hollow chamber. At least one heating element is associated with at least one of said housing and said lid. The cooking system is operable in a plurality of modes including a pressure cooking mode and a convective cooking mode. In the pressure cooking mode, the cooking system is operable as a pressure cooker and in the convective cooking mode, the cooking system is operable as a convection cooker.

Disclosed herein is a cooking system for cooking food, the system including a housing having a hollow interior, a lid movable relative to the housing, at least one heating element associated with one of the housing and the lid, wherein the cooking system is operable in a plurality of modes including a conductive cooking mode and a convective cooking mode, wherein in the conductive cooking mode the cooking system is operable as a conductive cooker and in the convective cooking mode the cooking system is operable as a convection cooker.

A first lid detection sensor is configured to detect a closed condition of said first lid configuration and a second lid detection sensor is configured to detect a closed condition of said second lid configuration.
