The biopsy device further includes an outer cannula seal disposed between the manifold and the outer cannula, the outer cannula seal including an interference ring portion disposed adjacent an inner surface of the manifold, a beaded ring portion that contacts an outer surface of the outer cannula, and a flexible portion extending between the interference ring portion and the beaded ring portion.

Harvesting cancellous bone and marrow from posterior superior iliac spine using bone press

A method of harvesting cancellous bone and marrow from an individual's posterior superior iliac spine using a bone press apparatus includes: creating an opening in cortical bone of the posterior superior iliac spine; accessing through the opening and loosening for extraction cancellous bone and bone marrow; inserting a suction apparatus through the opening and extracting the loosened cancellous bone and bone marrow, the suction apparatus being attached to a first lid of a collection container, the first lid of the collection container having a suction port to which a suction source is connected; disconnecting the suction source from the suction port and replacing the first lid with a second lid having a suction port and a plunger with a press head; filtering the extracted liquid by depressing the plunger; and pouring the filtered liquid through the suction port of the second lid into another cup.

A core biopsy system includes a core biopsy needle device and biopsy sample collection device, wherein the core biopsy needle device is positionable within and movable with respect to the biopsy sample collection device. Systems and methods for obtaining multiple biopsy samples with a single insertion of a needle of the biopsy needle device include obtaining sequential samples and storage in a multi-cell cartridge. Additional features and methods of the invention include obtaining two sample portions from each sample acquisition, wherein each of the two sample portions can be separately preserved and analyzed.

SURGICAL ROBOT PLATFORM
20180000546 · 2018-01-04 ·

A medical robot system, including a robot coupled to an effectuator element with the robot configured for controlled movement and positioning. The system may include a transmitter configured to emit one or more signals, and the transmitter is coupled to an instrument coupled to the effectuator element. The system may further include a motor assembly coupled to the robot and a plurality of receivers configured to receive the one or more signals emitted by the transmitter. A control unit is coupled to the motor assembly and the plurality of receivers, and the control unit is configured to supply one or more instruction signals to the motor assembly. The instruction signals can be configured to cause the motor assembly to selectively move the effectuator element.

Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Biliary Access System
20180001057 · 2018-01-04 ·

The present disclosure provides an access system having a maneuverable catheter assembly configured for providing access to and navigating a desired vessel for subsequent treatment thereof. The access system includes an adjustable delivery handle assembly and an access catheter subassembly having a maneuverable access catheter configured to be delivered to desired site (e.g., within duodenum) to assist in treatment of a condition (e.g., drainage of a bile ducts via Endoscopic Ultrasound Guided Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD) techniques). The access catheter includes at least a distal section having an adjustable portion along a length thereof configured to transition to a pre-defined arcuate shape to provide directional control over the distal end of the catheter as it is navigated through a vessel (e.g., bile duct). The handle assembly includes additional elements configured to allow a clinician to maneuver and manipulate the distal end of the access catheter.

NEEDLE TRAJECTORY PREDICTION FOR TARGET BIOPSY

A target biopsy system employing an ultrasound probe (20), a target biopsy needle (30) and a ultrasound guide controller (44). In operation, the ultrasound probe (20) projects an ultrasound plane intersecting an anatomical region (e.g. a liver). The target biopsy needle (30) include two or more ultrasound receivers (31) for sensing the ultrasound plane as the target biopsy needle (30) is inserted into the anatomical region. In response to the ultrasound receiver(s) (31) sensing the ultrasound plane, the ultrasound guide controller (44) predicts a biopsy trajectory of the target biopsy needle (30) within the anatomical region relative to the ultrasound plane. The prediction indicates the biopsy trajectory is either within the ultrasound plane (i.e., an in-plane biopsy trajectory) or outside of the ultrasound plane (i.e., an out-of-plane biopsy trajectory).

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR HYBRID OVERSIGHT OF SAMPLE COLLECTION

INTEGRATED PAINLESS BONE MARROW BIOPSY DEVICE
20180000465 · 2018-01-04 ·

An apparatus and method for performing painless bone marrow biopsy that requires only a single procedural pass to the biopsy bone site is disclosed. The biopsy device combines dermatotomy, anesthesia and marrow specimen extraction functionality and inherently aligns the bone drilling site with the site of anesthetic delivery by incorporating a transport channel that may be used for anesthetic delivery, into the biopsy needle used for bone access and bone marrow sample retrieval. The biopsy device also discloses a right angle drill interface and multiple side-access ports for aspiration and anesthetic syringe attachments. A novel syringe/plunger system comprising vacuum tube fitted plungers for quick transfer of marrow specimen sample without requiring a second non-sterile assistant is also disclosed.
