METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR EVALUATING THE INTEGRITY OF A UTERINE CAVITY
Methods, systems and devices for evaluating the integrity of a uterine cavity. A method comprises introducing transcervically a probe into a patient's uterine cavity, providing a flow of a fluid (e.g., CO.sub.2) through the probe into the uterine cavity and monitoring the rate of the flow to characterize the uterine cavity as perforated or non-perforated based on a change in the flow rate.
BALLOON CATHETER AND BALLOON CATHETER SYSTEM
A balloon catheter includes: a balloon; an outside shaft connected to a proximal end of the balloon; an inside shaft extending inside the outside shaft and into the balloon to be connected to a distal end of the balloon; and a heating member disposed in the balloon for heating a liquid in the balloon. A distance between a distal end of the outside shaft and a proximal end of the heating member is 0 mm to 5 mm.
In vivo potential measurement device
An in vivo potential measurement device includes an insulating member and an amplifier. The insulating member has an electrode. The insulating member is inserted into an organ of a living body such that an outer peripheral face of the insulating member contacts with an inner wall face of the organ at a contact site. The electrode senses electric potential at the contact site. The amplifier amplifies the electric potential to obtain output voltage. The amplifier has input capacitance Cin and input resistance Rin that satisfy Cin/Ce>0.1 and 1/(2πfCeRin)>0.1, where Ce represents capacitance of the insulating member at the contact site, and f represents frequency of the electric potential at the contact site on the inner wall face. A contact state between the outer peripheral face and the inner wall face is evaluated using the output voltage.
Delivering tumor treating fields (TTFields) using implantable transducer arrays
Tumor treating fields (TTFields) can be delivered by implanting a plurality of sets of implantable electrode elements within a person's body. Temperature sensors positioned to measure the temperature at the electrode elements are also implanted, along with a circuit that collects temperature measurements from the temperature sensors. In some embodiments, an AC voltage generator configured to apply an AC voltage across the plurality of sets of electrode elements is also implanted within the person's body.
Apparatus and cosmetic method for body orifice remodeling
A body orifice remodeling device includes a cylindrical handpiece having a defined length which is adapted to be inserted into the body orifice and an elongated monopolar electrode mounted outside on the circumference of the cylindrical handpiece and extending substantially along the length of the handpiece. A source of radio frequency (RF) energy in the handpiece is configured to generate RF energy to the elongated monopolar electrode; and a source of electromagnetic stimulation energy (EMagS) in the handpiece is configured to generate (EMagS) energy.
Continuous wound dressing with plasma electrode
The invention relates to a treatment device for dielectric harrier discharge plasma treatment of a wound surface or skin surface, having: a flexible, planar electrode assembly with at least one planar electrode (6, 6′) and a dielectric layer (5) which at least partially embeds the at least one electrode (6, 6′), has a contact side (7) facing the wound surface or skin surface and electrically shields the planar electrode (6, 6′) from the wound surface or skin surface such that only a dielectric barrier current can flow from the electrode (6, 6′) to the wound surface or skin surface; and a control device (2) which has a separate housing (25) and via which the electrode (6, 6′) can be connected to an operating voltage. The treatment device allows simpler wound treatment in that the assembly of electrode (6, 6′) and dielectric layer (5) is designed for uninterrupted contact with the wound surface or skin surface and that the housing (25) of the control device (2) can be fastened with a fastening device (3, 3′) to the body having the wound surface or skin surface.
Delivering Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) Using Implantable Transducer Arrays
Tumor treating fields (TTFields) can be delivered by implanting a plurality of sets of implantable electrode elements within a person’s body. Temperature sensors positioned to measure the temperature at the electrode elements are also implanted, along with a circuit that collects temperature measurements from the temperature sensors. In some embodiments, an AC voltage generator configured to apply an AC voltage across the plurality of sets of electrode elements is also implanted within the person’s body.
SURGICAL DEVICE AND METHODS
A tissue resecting or other medical device includes a handle coupled to an elongated shaft. A radiofrequency (RF) electrode is carried at a distal end of the elongated shaft, and the electrode is moveable across a window in a sleeve or other component of the shaft. The shaft has an interior channel connectable to a negative pressure source to remove debris from the channel. A motor is carried by the handle and operatively coupled to the electrode for moving the electrode relative to the window. An electronic image sensor and lens are disposed at a distal end of the shaft, and a plurality of conductors may extend through the shaft to the image sensor. The image sensor, lens and sensor conductors are disposed within a first tubular member, and an LED or other light source is also positioned at a distal end of the shaft with LED conductors or leads extending through a second tubular member of the shaft to the LED.
DEVICE INCLUDING RF SOURCE OF ENERGY AND VACUUM SYSTEM
A method of soft tissue treatment of a patient includes placing an applicator onto a surface of the soft tissue, with the applicator including an electrode and a dielectric material vacuum cup. The soft tissue is heated via the electrode. Vacuum is applied to the vacuum cup. The electrode may be at least partially covered by a dielectric material of variable thickness.
Conductive optical element
A device having an optical element with a conductive coating. The device may include an optical element, a conductive material and at least one connector. The conductive material is disposed on at least a portion of the optical element. The optical element, for example, may be an object lens of an endoscope or an optical coupler. The connectors (acting as terminal(s)) are capable of providing energy (such as electrical energy) to the conductive material. In one aspect, the conductive material is an optically transparent material. Advantageously, the device may allow visualization of an object—such as body tissue or other matter—concurrent with the application of energy to the object via the conductive coating. This allows the user to observe the alteration of tissue and other matter in real time as the energy is delivered.
