SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING A SCORE FOR SPATIAL LOCALIZATION HEARING

One of the objectives of this invention is to allow the conduction of audiometric evaluations in natural or artificial sound spaces, in a way that can be monitored and reproduced.

For that purpose, the inventors propose to create virtual environments which reproduce sound and visual characteristics of natural or artificial spaces.

In practice, a user experience is initiated between a subject and a virtual environment so as to simulate a specific audiometry test. Finally, a spatial auditory localization score is determined from measurements that will be carried out in the virtual environment.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING AND TRACKING EAR CHARACTERISTICS

A method performed by a headset that includes a speaker and an in-ear microphone, the method includes performing a calibration on the headset to obtain a baseline measurement; using, while the headset is being worn by a user, an audio signal to drive the speaker that is arranged to project sound into a canal of a user's ear; capturing as a microphone signal, from the in-ear microphone of the headset, sound from within the canal of the user's ear; determining a parameter associated with the user's ear based at least on the captured microphone signal and the baseline measurement; and transmitting a notification related to one or more characteristics of one or more hearing elements of the user's ear based on the parameter.

ELECTRONIC HEARING DEVICE AND METHOD

A method performed by an electronic hearing device with an earpiece configured to be worn in an ear, includes: engaging a hearing mode wherein a compensated output signal is based on current hearing compensation data. Performing a first fitting procedure including: obtaining first hearing compensation data via audiometric measurements; emitting an otoacoustic stimulation signal and capturing an acoustic signal including otoacoustic emissions. In response to receiving a first input signal, performing a first monitoring procedure including: emitting an otoacoustic stimulation signal and capturing an acoustic signal including otoacoustic emissions, if any. Determining a deviation value based on the second acoustic signal and the third acoustic signal; and determining whether the deviation value satisfies a first criterion. In accordance with a determination that the deviation value satisfies the first criterion, communicating a first notification signal indicative of the deviation from the hearing device.

Cognitive benefit measure related to hearing-assistance device use

A computing system comprising one or more electronic computing devices receives data from a hearing-assistance device. The computing system determines, based on the data received from the hearing-assistance device, a cognitive benefit measure for a wearer of the hearing-assistance device. The cognitive benefit measure being an indication of a change of a cognitive benefit of the wearer of the hearing-assistance device attributable to use of the hearing-assistance device by the wearer of the hearing-assistance device. The computing device outputs an indication of the cognitive benefit measure.

AUDIOMETRIC SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH AMBIENT NOISE DISTRACTION AND MASKING INDENTIFICATION
20230032147 · 2023-02-02 ·

A system and method for testing hearing of a subject in an environment in which ambient noise is present, which identifies threshold levels that require retesting due to presence of masking or distraction created by ambient noise during pure tone audiometry. An acoustic sensor monitors ambient noise in the vicinity of the subject during pure tone audiometry while pure tone stimuli are presented.

Hearing test system and method for determining credibility of a hearing test

A hearing test system includes a sound generating unit, an user interface, and a control unit. The sound generating unit is configured to generate a first testing sound at a frequency for a subject. The user interface is configured to receive a first feedback of the subject based on the first testing sound. The control unit is configured to determine whether the first feedback is of heard response or an unheard response. When the control unit confirms that the first feedback is of the heard response, the control unit drives the sound generating unit to generate a second testing sound based on a lower testing limit at the frequency, in which a volume of the second testing sound is less than or substantially equal to a volume of the first testing sound.

Disclosed is a system and method for individualized hearing aid prescription which consists of a test procedure that enables the fitting of an individualized estimation of the SII model to individual listeners efficiently and an optimization process which translates the resulting individualized model to the prescribed gains across frequencies for programming into the user's hearing aids. The test involves the recognition of one or more words presented in background noise, which better approximates the daily listening experiences of hearing-aid users compared to the pure-tone detection in a silent environment task which is commonly utilized during conventional audiometric testing. In the estimated SII model, five parameters describe in a custom fashion the relative weights of speech information across the five frequency bands for a given listener. The results from the speech test is used to determine the desirable amount of gain for each frequency region to optimize the user's aided speech intelligibility. The resulting gains for the individual may then be programmatically applied to the individual's prescribed hearing aid device(s).
