A nursing garment computing system includes a nursing garment having a pair of breast cups with an electronic sensor to indicate the status of a breast in the pair of breast cups and a computing device to record the sensor data indicative of whether the breast cup is open or closed. The data can be electronically sent to an external device such as a cell phone or personal digital assistant to keep track of which breast cup has been opened for breastfeeding event, time between breastfeeding event, amount of time for breastfeeding from each side of the breast, a record of which side was nursed last, and a record of which side was nursed first during the last breastfeeding event.

An image acquisition unit acquires a breast image, and a first estimation unit calculates a first estimated value of a direct arrival dose in a direct X-ray region, which is included in the breast image and to which X-rays are directly emitted, based on the imaging conditions at the time of X-ray imaging. A second estimation unit calculates a second estimated value of the direct arrival dose based on the pixel value of the direct X-ray region included in the breast image. A determination unit determines a direct arrival dose, which is used for calculation of the mammary gland content rate, based on the first estimated value and the second estimated value. A calculation unit calculates a mammary gland content rate using the direct arrival dose determined by the determination unit.

Microsensor-based Breastfeeding Volume Measurement Device
20210169398 · 2021-06-10 ·

A nipple-shield mounted sensor with associated electronic interface and interconnect for measurement and display of milk flow and volume during breastfeeding. The sensor is mounted in the tip of the nipple-shield in order to minimise intrusion between mother and child. The sensor can be mounted transverse or parallel to the milk flow in the channel depending on the selected sensing technology. The dimensions of the sensor and associated cabling are such that the device does not appear substantially different to a nipple-shield alone, thereby having minimal impact on the feeding session. Microlitre flow levels are measured directly by the sensor in order to relay accurate, real-time information on milk volume back to the feeding mother. The electronics unit amplifies the sensor input and digitally processes the data with software algorithms to determine the fluid volume, and can be directly integrated in the shield or can constitute an external module depending on the nature of the sensing technology integrated in the flow channel.

Bodily Fluid Indicator Devices and Methods

Bodily fluid indicator devices and methods are provided. Such devices and methods can effectively indicate whether the amount of bodily fluid being produced is within a measurable range. In an exemplary embodiment, a bodily fluid indicator device includes a substrate having a surface. Some portions of the surface are covered with a region of absorbent material and other portions of the surface are devoid of the absorbent material. A graduated scale or a reactive feature is printed on the absorbent material. The device is configured to indicate an amount and/or a composition a bodily fluid present on an area of a patient or subject.

A nursing monitoring device includes an inlet conduit with an inlet opening to enable milk that is released from a nipple to enter the inlet conduit. An outlet conduit with an outlet opening enables milk from the outlet conduit to enter a mouth of a nursing child. A measurement unit connected to the inlet conduit and to the outlet conduit enables measurement of a property of the milk that flows from the inlet conduit to the outlet conduit via the measurement unit. The outlet conduit is sufficiently long to enable placement of the measurement unit laterally to the mouth.
