PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIOURAL METHODS TO ASSESS PILOT READINESS
A system and method for automatically assessing pilot readiness via a plurality of biometric sensors includes continuously receiving biometric data including vision-based data; the biometric vision-based data is compared to a task specific set of movements and facial expressions as defined by known anchor points. A deviation is calculated based on the vision-based data and task specific set of movements and expressions, and the deviation is compared to an acceptable threshold for pilot readiness. Other biometric data may be included to refine the readiness assessment.
Analytical Toilet with Microfluidic Chip
An analytical toilet is disclosed with a bowl adapted to receive excreta, a conduit for transporting a liquid excreta sample from the bowl, and a liquid reagent source. The analytical toilet also includes a microfluidic chip that has a sensor configured to detect at least one property of the excreta sample. The microfluidic chip also has an excreta sample path in fluid communication with the conduit and the sensor and a reagent path in fluid communication with the liquid reagent source and the sensor. The length of and number of channels in the sample path and the reagent path are selected so as to control the respective fluid resistance of the excreta sample and the reagent to thereby optimize the mixing and flow rates of the excreta sample and reagent into the sensor. There is also disclosed analytical toilet with a microfluidic chip having reagent path that includes a first and a second channel. The second channel is longer than the first channel. A valve, which is controllable so as to cause the reagent to flow through either the first channel, the second channel or both channels. As such, the fluid resistance of the reagent is controlled, to thereby optimize the flow rate of the reagent into the sensor.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING BODY COMPONENT INFORMATION BY USING SAME
An electronic device and method are disclosed. The electronic device includes a display, a first sensor, a communication module and a processor. The processor implements the method, including calculating a first impedance via the first biometric information, calculating a first body composition based on the first impedance, receiving second biometric information from an external electronic device, calculating a second impedance using the second biometric information, calculating a second body composition based the second impedance, calculating a total body composition based on at least one of the first impedance and the second impedance, calculating a third body composition for a third part of the body of the user, based on the total body composition, the first body composition, and the second body composition, and displaying at least one of the total body composition, the first body composition, and the second body composition, and the third body composition on the display
APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING PHYSIOLOGICAL MOVEMENT FROM AUDIO AND MULTIMODAL SIGNALS
Methods and devices provide physiological movement detection with active sound generation. In some versions, a processor may detect breathing and/or gross body motion. The processor may control producing, via a speaker coupled to the processor, a sound signal in a user's vicinity. The processor may control sensing, via a microphone coupled to the processor, a reflected sound signal. This reflected sound signal is a reflection of the sound signal from the user. The processor may process the reflected sound, such as by a demodulation technique. The processor may detect breathing from the processed reflected sound signal. The sound signal may be produced as a series of tone pairs in a frame of slots or as a phase-continuous repeated waveform having changing frequencies (e.g., triangular or ramp sawtooth). Evaluation of detected movement information may determine sleep states or scoring, fatigue indications, subject recognition, chronic disease monitoring/prediction, and other output parameters.
TRANSPARENT DEVICE WITH BIO-SIGNAL ACQUISITION AND FEEDBACK CAPABILITIES
A transparent device with bio-signal acquisition and feedback capabilities is provided, and includes a base that includes at least one actuator, a transparent container connected to the base, first and second electrodes disposed on the base, a body temperature sensor, a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor module, and a bio-signal acquisition module that has an electrocardiographic (ECG or EKG) sensor function and acquires an ECG signal, a PPG signal, and a body temperature signal of the user. The bio-signal acquisition module determines physiological indices by using a preset algorithm and controls the at least one actuator to provide corresponding visual or auditory feedbacks in real time according to the physiological indices and an extended cardiac index of the user.
Urine indication pad with inbuilt diagnostics for training and indication of potential disease
A training pad system for house training of a pet or toilet training of a juvenile human, includes a training pad with one or more diagnostic zones, each comprising one or more diagnostic test areas, optionally a pad cutout that matches a shape of a lower portion of a toilet, a urine indicator composition for visually indicating exposure to urine with a signal color, a liquid absorbing material, an antimicrobial agent, and adhesive surfaces; and a diagnostic decoding chart to interpret diagnostic results by lookup of corresponding test decoding areas.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES TO PROVIDE CHEST TUBE INSERTION FEEDBACK
A chest tube insertion test device for performing a chest tube insertion training procedure at least partially encloses an insertion tool and includes a microcontroller communicatively coupled to one or more force-sensing resistors. The one or more force-sensing resistors convert an insertion force into a voltage signal sent to the microcontroller. A feedback generator compares the chest tube insertion force to one or more predetermined threshold values and provides feedback to a trainee. The feedback can include an instruction to increase, decrease, or maintain the chest tube insertion force. The feedback is one or more audio cues and/or one or more visual cues (e.g., represented by audio files and/or visual data files stored at the chest tube insertion test device). The chest tube insertion test device detects an insertion force rate of change indicating that the insertion tool has passed through an inner pad of the training model.
Probe cover for a handheld oximetry probe
A sleeve or sheath includes a body having a top opening. The body covers a handheld oximeter probe or a portion of the probe. The sleeve has a shape that approximately matches the oximeter probe or portion of the probe, which is covered by the sleeve. The sleeve has a top opening that allows a user to slide the oximeter probe into the sleeve. The sleeve is transparent to radiation emitted and collected by the oximeter probe. The sleeve is formed of a material that prevents patient tissue, fluid, viruses, bacteria, and fungus from contacting the covered portions of the oximeter probe. The sleeve leaves the probe relatively sterile after use so that little or no clearing of the probe is required for a subsequent use, such as when the probe is covered with a new, unused sleeve.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR MEASURING LOADS AND FORCES OF A SEATED SUBJECT USING SCALE DEVICES
