Networked ultrasound system and method for imaging a medical procedure using an invasive probe
A hand-held ultrasound system includes integrated electronics within an ergonomic housing. The electronics includes control circuitry, beamforming and circuitry transducer drive circuitry. The electronics communicate with a host computer using an industry standard high speed serial bus. The ultrasonic imaging system is operable on a standard, commercially available, user computing device without specific hardware modifications, and is adapted to interface with an external application without modification to the ultrasonic imaging system to allow a user to gather ultrasonic data on a standard user computing device such as a PC, and employ the data so gathered via an independent external application without requiring a custom system, expensive hardware modifications, or system rebuilds. An integrated interface program allows such ultrasonic data to be invoked by a variety of such external applications having access to the integrated interface program via a standard, predetermined platform such as visual basic or c++.
Method of infrared imaging
An infrared imaging signal is generated to illuminate tissue. An infrared image of an exit signal of the infrared imaging signal is captured. The infrared imaging signal is within a frequency band.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MODULATION OF DEEP BRAIN CIRCUITS
Systems and methods for applying therapeutic ultrasound to the brain while using ultrasound to compensate for the attenuation and dephasing of ultrasound by each individual's head. The compensation delivers into the target deterministic ultrasound intensity. The compensation is based on relative ultrasound through-transmit measurements, which are performed using a set of ultrasonic emitters over one side of the head and a set of receivers on the other side. The measurements are performed with the head absent and present. Based on the difference between these measurements, the set of ultrasound waves is adjusted to compensate for attenuations and dephasing caused by the ultrasound wave passing into the head through the skull and scalp. The adjusted set of ultrasound waves provides intended, deterministic ultrasound intensity at the target location. The deterministic delivery enables safe and effective ultrasonic neuromodulation, safe and effective local drug release from nanoparticle carriers, and safe and effective microbubble-based disruption of blood-brain barrier for the delivery of drugs, genes, and stem cells across the blood-brain barrier.
Headset system
Arrangements described herein relate to a headset system and a method to manufacturing the headset system, the headset system including a headset configured to lay on top of a surface and to support a head of a subject when the subject is in a supine position or a reclined position, at least one probe adjustment mechanism, and a probe coupled to the at least one probe adjustment mechanism and configured to emit acoustic energy.
Pulsatility measurement and monitoring
Systems and methods are presented for monitoring brain pulsatility. A change in volume of the brain is estimated based at least in part on an output of a non-contact, surface measuring sensor (e.g., a distance sensor or a camera). A metric indicative of brain pulsatility is then calculated based at least in part on a ratio of the estimated change in volume of the brain relative to a change in arterial blood pressure.
Three-dimensional ultrasound imaging method and device
The three-dimensional ultrasound imaging method comprise emitting an ultrasonic wave to a fetal head; receiving an ultrasonic echo to acquire an ultrasonic echo signal; acquiring three-dimensional volume data of the fetal head according to the ultrasonic echo signal; detecting a median sagittal section from the three-dimensional volume data according to features of the median sagittal section of the fetal head; determining a facing orientation of the fetal head in the median sagittal section; displaying the median sagittal section as an image suitable for observation according to the facing orientation of the fetal head.
Robust, simple, and efficiently manufacturable transducer array
A transducer array for ultrasound applications includes a plurality of transducer elements that are provided with self-aligned connections to a flexible cable. The array is easy to manufacture and suited for wearable, wireless, and other small ultrasound devices. A simple and efficient method of producing a robust transducer array involves at least partially separating the transducer elements after their connection to their respective conductors.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEASURING INTRACRANIAL PRESSURE
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a system and method for measuring intracranial pressure (ICP). Embodiments of the present invention include emitting an electromagnetic wave into the temple area and/or inner ear of a patient and measuring ICP based on the characteristics of the reflected and/or transmitted electromagnetic wave scattered by the tissue and/or cavity. The characteristics may include variations in the electromagnetic wave corresponding to distortions by the cavity within the skull beneath the temple and/or the oval window within the patient's inner ear. Further, embodiments of the present invention include ICP is elevated in the patient. The present invention concentrates on measuring and quantifying the changes in transmission characteristics to determine changes in ICP.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NONINVASIVE AND LOCALIZED BRAIN LIQUID BIOPSY USING FOCUSED ULTRASOUND
Among the various aspects of the present disclosure is the provision of a noninvasive and localized brain liquid biopsy using focused ultrasound. Briefly, therefore, the present disclosure is directed to methods and systems to identify brain lesion or tumor characteristics without the need for a solid brain biopsy.
COMBINED ULTRASONIC STIMULATION AND PHOTOMETRY DEVICE
Devices and methods are disclosed related to combined ultrasonic stimulation and photometry. A device can include an ultrasonic transducer and an optical delivery element integrated with the ultrasonic transducer. The ultrasonic transducer can deliver ultrasound energy at a tip of the optical delivery element. In certain embodiments, the optical delivery element can be an optical fiber. A detector can generate an indication of a cell response associated with the delivered ultrasound energy.
