Device for dispensing a dental material

A device for dispensing a dental material has a cartridge with a dispensing end. The dispensing end has a dispensing opening for the dental material. The dispensing end further has in essence an axially symmetric shape with a truncation. The truncation provides the dispensing end with a generally flat dispensing surface through which the dispensing opening extends. The device has further a cap received on the dispensing end. The cap and the dispensing end are rotatable relative to each other between an open position, in which an orifice in the cap uncovers the dispensing surface, and a closed position, in which a closed space is formed between the cap and the dispensing surface. The device allows for a relatively convenient dispensation of dental material, in particular for a dispensation of a dental composite filling material.

Interproximal Reduction Tool And Method

An interproximal reduction tool and method preferably includes at least one polishing strip; at least one abrasive wheel; and a low speed and high torque dental electric motor. First, the area between two adjacent teeth is manually polished with a plurality of polishing strips. The polishing strip is held between a forefinger and thumb and moved in a horizontal plane. Each abrasive wheel preferably includes an abrasive disc and a shaft. The abrasive disc includes a disc base and abrasive material. The abrasive material is adhered to opposing sides of the disc base. It is preferable to have an annular space between an outer edge of the disc base and an outer perimeter of the annular abrasive material. The low speed/high torque motor preferably utilizes an existing dental motor and modifies the dental motor to have a preferable gear reduction of at least 16:1.

Full-scanner barrier for an intra-oral device

Removable barrier devices (e.g., sleeves) for covering medical scanning devices to reduce the chance of cross-contamination between patients and/or to protect the scanning devices from physical damage. The barrier device can include a cover that has an integrated window for passing optical signals between the scanning device and an external environment. The cover can include a sleeve that covers a handle portion of the scanning device to prevent contamination of the handle from a user's hand or glove. The cover and sleeve may both be formed of the same flexible material, or the cover may be rigid to maintain the window in a fixed position and the sleeve may be flexible to allow a user to activate a button or touchpad on the handle. An interface region between the cover and sleeve may provide a hermetic seal. The window may include a nanostructured antireflective material to limit internal reflections.

INTRAORAL SCANNER WITH DEFOGGING ELEMENT

An intraoral scanner comprises an optical element for transmission of optical signals and a primary housing that houses the optical element, the primary housing comprising a head configured for insertion into a patient oral cavity, the head of the primary housing defining an aperture for transmission of the optical signals, wherein the primary housing comprises a longitudinal axis, and wherein a vector normal to a plane defined by the aperture is at a right angle or an acute angle to the longitudinal axis. The intraoral scanner further comprises a defogging element coupled to the primary housing, the defogging element comprising a transparent substrate aligned with the aperture, at least one side of the transparent substrate facing an external environment, and a transparent conductive layer on a surface of the transparent substrate, wherein responsive to application of electrical power to the transparent conductive layer, the transparent conductive layer generates heat.

A hand-held surgical device, particularly for use in oral surgery, includes a rotatable tool, a head of the tool having a hollow-cylindrical design, and an active region, particularly for machining bones, being arranged at a distal edge of the head. A protection device is arranged which partially surrounds the distal edge of the tool and in some sections extends in the axial direction beyond the distal edge such that only a circular arc of the distal edge serves as the active region. The protection device may have a connecting element for detachably securing to the hand-held surgical device.
