Device for facilitating the formation of new bone tissue
A device for facilitating the formation of new bone tissue includes a body that defines an upper portion and a lower portion, the lower portion having a substantially frustum-like shape, the upper portion having a substantially cylindrical shape. The lower portion is adapted to be inserted into the medullary canal of a bone.
Decoupled spacer and plate and method of installing the same
Intervertebral spacer assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A method of insertion includes inserting an intervertebral spacer and plate together using an insertion tool and, upon removal of the insertion tool, the intervertebral spacer and plate are no longer considered connected/coupled and act as separate components.
Ceramic Spacer for the Two-Sided Replacement of Implants in Shoulder, Knee and Hip as a Result of Infections
A spacer comprised of individual components as joint replacement in the arthroplasty of shoulder, knee, and hip for the temporary surgical care of infections in the joint. The problems addressed by the invention are those of avoiding an adhesion of the bone to the spacer and a release of wear products, achieving that the patient does substantially not experience any mobility restriction, and keeping the wear and tear of the spacer as little as possible. These problems are solved in that at least one component of the spacer is made of a ceramic material, of a plurality of ceramic materials, or of a non-ceramic material having a ceramic coating.
Joint osteotomy system and method
A resection guide includes a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion has a first bone engagement structure and defines a first plurality of holes. The second body portion has a second bone engagement structure and defines a second plurality of holes. The first body portion and the second body portion are operable to separate a first anatomical structure of a patient and a second anatomical structure of the patient. A cutting guide defines at least one guide aperture that is operable for guiding a cutting tool for use in resecting a portion of the second anatomical structure of the patient. The cutting guide is positionable relative to the first body portion.
Method for placing implant using robotic system
A method for placing an implant on a patient in a robotic surgical procedure using a robotic system. During the robotic surgical procedure, a navigation system tracks the patient. The navigation system also provides information to the robotic system to guide movement of a cutting tool to remove material from the patient such that a cut surface is created to receive the implant. The implant is then robotically placed on the cut surface.
Devices and methods for bone restructure and stabilization
Devices and methods for restructure and stabilization of a fractured or weakened head of a bone are disclosed herein. A device includes a delivery catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, an inner void for passing at least one light sensitive liquid, and an inner lumen; an expandable member releasably engaging the distal end of the delivery catheter; and a light conducting fiber sized to pass through the inner lumen of the delivery catheter and into the expandable member. The expandable member moves from a deflated state to an inflated state when the light sensitive liquid is passed to the expandable member. When the light conducting fiber is in the expandable member, the light conducting fiber is able to disperse the light energy to initiate hardening of the light sensitive liquid within the expandable member to form a photodynamic implant.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SPACERS
The invention relates to a device for producing a spacer having a stem mold (1) which has an inner space (2), wherein the inner space (2) is accessible via a proximal opening (3) and wherein the stem mold (1) has a proximal wall (4) which peripherally delimits the proximal opening (3) of the stem mold (1), a head mold (5) which has in the interior thereof a hollow space (6), wherein the hollow space (6) has a spherical surface-shaped inner surface (7) and is accessible via a distal opening (8), wherein the head mold (5) has a distal wall (9) which peripherally delimits the distal opening (8) of the head mold (5), a metal core (10) which has a stem part (12), a head part (14) and a flange (16), wherein the flange (16) projects out from the metal core (10), is arranged between the stem part (12) and the head part (14) and has a proximal surface (18) and a distal surface (20), wherein the stem mold (1) and the stem part (12) are shaped such that the stem part (12) is arranged in the inner space (2), when the proximal wall (4) is resting against the distal surface (20), and wherein the head mold (5) and the head part (14) are shaped such that the head part (14) is arranged in the hollow space (6), when the distal wall (9) is resting against the proximal surface (18).
The invention also relates to a set with such a device and to a method for producing spacers with such a device.
CRANIOPLASTY PLATE
A cranial plate is provided for use after a craniectomy. The plate is mounted to the skull and protects the brain exposed in the skull opening. A plate is initially spaced above the skull with gaskets or spacers so as to preclude pressure on the brain. The gaskets or spacers are resorptive, or otherwise dissolve or shrink over time, until the plate settles upon the skull. An elastic web extending over the plate provides a constant force to pull the plate towards the skull as the spacers shrink. The plate is secured to the skull using screws. The plate may include alignment posts residing adjacent the skull opening to maintain proper positioning of the plate as the spacers shrink. The plate eliminates the need for a second cranioplasty surgical procedure.
METHOD FOR LUBRICATING AN ARTIFICIAL CONTACTING SURFACE
A method for implanting a medical device for implantation in a mammal joint. The method comprising the steps of creating an opening reaching from outside of the human body into the joint, providing said artificial contacting surface to said joint, fixating the artificial contacting surface to the joint, implanting said reservoir in the human body, and lubricating the artificial contacting surface with use of a lubricating fluid contained in said reservoir.
Decoupled spacer and plate and method of installing the same
Intervertebral spacer assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A method of insertion include inserting an intervertebral spacer and plate together using an insertion tool and, upon removal of the insertion tool, the intervertebral spacer and plate are no longer considered connected/coupled and act as separate components.
