Articulating expandable intervertebral implant
11701236 · 2023-07-18 · ·

A spacer for separating bones of a joint includes a frame and a carriage. The carriage has ramped surfaces, and is slideably moveable in relation to the frame. A screw support is moveably connected to the frame to form a changeable angular orientation with respect to the frame. An actuating screw is supported by the screw support, and is connected to the carriage to cause the carriage to slideably move in relation to the frame when the actuating screw is rotated. Opposing endplates are configured to engage opposing bone of the joint, and each has ramped surfaces mateable with the ramped surfaces of the carriage. When the carriage is moved by rotation of the actuating screw, the ramped surfaces of the carriage and the endplates slide against each other, causing the endplates to move relatively apart, to increase the height of the spacer.

Spinal implant system

A spinal implant system is provided for bridging an intervertebral space between vertebral bodies bordering the intervertebral space. The spinal implant system includes at least one adjustable end cap and a spinal implant. The end cap can be used with additional end caps and/or the spinal implant. Multiple end caps can be stacked on top of one another, and one end cap can be attached to a first end of the spinal implant, and another end cap can be attached to a second end of the spinal implant. Thus, one or more of the end caps can be attached to either end of the spinal implant.

ZERO PROFILE SPINAL FUSION CAGE

An interbody fusion cage having upper and lower canals for receiving the heads of bone screws that have been pre-installed in opposing vertebral body endplates. The proximal wall of the cage preferably has a vertical slot that communicates with each canal and is adapted to allow access by a screwdriver and tightening of the screws.

Expandable intervertebral implant

An expandable intervertebral implant is provided for insertion into an intervertebral space defined by adjacent vertebrae. The expandable intervertebral implant includes a pair of outer sleeve portions and an inner core disposed between the outer sleeve portions. Movement of the inner core relative to the outer sleeve portions causes the outers sleeve portions to deflect away from each other, thereby engaging the expandable intervertebral implant with the vertebrae and adjusting the height of the intervertebral space.

Expandable interbody implant with teeth driven linkages

A spinal interbody implant includes a shaft extending along and rotatable about a central axis. The shaft includes a first threaded region. The implant further includes a first link having a first end with first gear teeth. The first end of the first link is fixed at a first point relative to the central axis such that the first gear teeth engage the first threaded region.

Intervertebral implant with keel

An intervertebral implant component of an intervertebral implant includes an outer surface for engaging an adjacent vertebra and an inner surface. A keel extends from the outer surface and is designed to be disposed in a slot provided in the adjacent vertebra. This keel extends in a plane which is non-perpendicular to the outer surface; and preferably there are two of the keels extending from the outer surface which are preferably offset laterally from one another. In another embodiment, an anterior shelf is provided at an anterior end of the outer surface, and this anterior shelf extends vertically away from the inner surface in order to help prevent bone growth from the adjacent vertebra towards the inner surface. Further in accordance with disclosed embodiments, various materials, shapes and forms of construction of the component and/or keel provide various benefits.

Expandable fusion device and method of installation thereof

The present invention provides an expandable fusion device capable of being installed inside an intervertebral disc space to maintain normal disc spacing and restore spinal stability, thereby facilitating an intervertebral fusion. In one embodiment, the fusion device includes a body portion, a first endplate, and a second endplate, the first and second endplates capable of being moved in a direction away from the body portion into an expanded configuration or capable of being moved towards the body portion into an unexpanded configuration. The fusion device is capable of being deployed and installed in both configurations.

An expandable implant may include a superior endplate and an inferior endplate hingedly coupled together. The superior endplate may have at least one track extending in a proximal-to-distal direction and an inferior endplate may have at least one track extending in the proximal-to-distal direction. The implant may further include a proximal plate having a superior engagement surface and an inferior engagement surface. At least one shim may be disposed within the at least one tracks of the superior endplate and interior endplate, and the at least one shim may define an angle of inclination between the superior endplate and interior endplate. The at least one shim may be insert between the superior and inferior endplates to effectuate expansion and angulation. In various embodiments, the superior endplate may be supported by the superior engagement surface and the inferior endplate may be supported by inferior engagement surface.

Expandable support device and method of use

An implantable orthopedic support device and methods of using the device are disclosed. The device can have rigid structural components that can translate longitudinally with respect to each other, and in so doing can change the vertical height of the device. The structural components can be driven by a drivescrew mechanism to change the vertical height of the device.
