Bariatric lift chair
A bariatric chair for use in easing the ingress and egress of bariatric patients from medical furniture includes a platform mounted within a cavity defined by the chair base. The platform includes a pair of pistons and a pair of legs each pivotably attached to a rectangular base that is stored in a retracted position within the base when not in use but drops down when engaged to lift the chair vertically. Due to the pistons extending beyond the legs, the pivotable nature of the attachment creates a rotation of approximately fifteen degrees (15°) in the chair base, assisting the bariatric patient when trying to exit the chair. A method of lifting the chair is also provided.
Patient Repositioning System For Bariatric Bed
A patient repositioning system (10) for a bariatric bed (12) includes a mattress (14) having a head end (54), a foot end (52), and an upper surface (46), a sheet (16) residing on the upper surface (46), a drive mechanism (22) operatively coupled to the sheet (16) and adapted to pull the sheet (16) toward the head end (54), and a housing (20) which holds the drive mechanism (22). The mattress (14) further includes a body portion (114) and at least one operatively coupled attached side bolster (112a) located along one longitudinal side (62a) of the body portion (114), thereby to widen the upper surface (46) of the mattress (14) so as to accommodate standard bariatric dimensions. Alternatively, instead of a side bolster (112a), the invention contemplates the use of transition pieces (136a, 136b) near the head end (54), a rotatable housing (20), or a telescopically expandable/contractable housing (20), thereby to expand to accommodate bariatric dimensions and contract to reduced dimensions so as to fit through a standard size doorway.
Adjustable bed
An adjustable bed having two bedframe halves and a gear hinge assembly for simultaneously translating the bedframe halves and for rotating one bedframe half. The gear hinge assembly is mounted to a carrier assembly that provides lateral movement and causes the bedframe halves to move from side to side. The gear hinge assembly includes an arm mounted to each bedframe half and a pair of nested cups, including gears, which are mounted to one of the arms. A pair of offset gear tracks interact with one of the gears at a time to cause the gear to rotate. When the gear rotates, the arm connected to the gear also rotates. The rotation of one arm and bedframe half occurs simultaneously with the translation of both bed halves.
MOTORISED CHAIR
A chair comprising a sub-frame in contact with the ground and connected to the chair the sub-frame including four wheels to support the chair on the ground and a set of powered driving wheels connected to the rear of the sub-frame to allow the chair to be propelled.
FITNESS TRAINING SYSTEM
An exercise apparatus that includes a handle frame and a base frame.
Bed having rack and pinion powered width expansion
A bed comprises a fixed width deck section, a wing movably coupled to the fixed width section, and a rack and pinion mechanism for extending and retracting the wing.
PERSON SUPPORT SYSTEM WITH WIDTH EXPANSION WINGS WHICH REACH EXTENSION LIMITS AT DIFFERENT TIMES
A system for changing the width of a person support apparatus includes a bed controller for receiving a command signal indicating a command for width alteration, a first motor controlled by the bed controller for driving an extension of a first deck section of the support apparatus thereby altering the width of the first deck section, and a second motor controlled by the bed controller for driving an extension of a second deck section of the support apparatus thereby altering the width of the second deck section. The bed controller controls the first motor and the second motor in a manner that causes the first deck section to reach a first deck section width alteration limit at a first time and the second deck section to reach a second deck section width alteration limit at a second time, wherein the first time and the second time are not equal.
Bariatric Lift Assist Device
A patient lifting apparatus designed to facilitate the lifting patients off the ground having a backboard having a perimeter, a patient receiving surface and an opposingly located lower surface having opposingly located bases thereon, each of the bases having opposingly located curved sections and a flat middle section located in between the curved sections.
MEDICAL PROCEDURE FACILITATION SYSTEM
A medical procedure facilitation system for use with a bed. The system has a pair of assist arms secured to the bed that may rotate in relation to the bed along a path of rotation. A spring assembly is connected to the assist arms for helping raise a patient's legs. Supportive thigh pads associated with the assist arms give support under the knees and thighs and adjust their angle to accommodate the size and position of the patient. Hand grips are mounted on the support arms that allow the patient to contribute to lifting forces.
Apparatus and method for positioning a patient
A patient positioning system includes an inflatable patient support device and a positioning apparatus. The positioning apparatus includes a wedge-shaped body configured to be placed under the support device to support a patient in a desired position and a tail including an elongated piece of material extending from the wedge-shaped body.
