Therapy seat cushion with interspersed selectively inflatable load bearing cells and off loading cushioning cells
A therapy seat cushion, method of making the cushion and method of using the cushion. The cushion has a planar array of at least two sets of alternatively inflatable and deflatable cells controlled by an inflation control system, and at least one non-inflatable offloading cushioning cell interspersed amongst the inflatable cells. The non-inflatable offloading cushioning cell configured and arranged to align with a pressure sore or an area prone to development of a pressure sore on an individual.
RAMP SIDERAIL DEPLOYMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD
A ramp assembly to accommodate a wheel-chaired passenger to enter or to exit a passenger vehicle. The ramp assembly includes a frame having a drive assembly and a ramp subassembly slidably coupled to the frame. The ramp subassembly includes a ramp and a side rail extending along a side of the ramp. A ramp linkage is pivotally coupled to the ramp subassembly. A wheel is coupled to the ramp linkage, wherein rotation of the wheel adjusts a position of the ramp linkage to move the ramp from a lowered position to an inclined position. The ramp subassembly further includes a rail bracket, pivotally connected to the ramp linkage, and a slide bar, located adjacent to the rail bracket. The slide bar is configured to slide along the rail bracket, wherein sliding movement of the slide bar raises and lowers the side rail.
Seat arrangement for a wheelchair and a wheelchair including such a seat arrangement
A seat arrangement (10) for a wheelchair, as well as a wheelchair (40) incorporating such a seat arrangement (10), are disclosed. The arrangement includes a base, a connecting member and a supporting member. The base forms part of or is mounted to a seat of the wheelchair (40). The connecting member is slidably mounted to the base and displaceable relative to the base between a retracted position and an extended position. The supporting member is pivotably connected to the connecting member and shaped substantially so as to mate with the seat opening (22). The supporting being member is pivotable between an open position and a closed position. When the connecting member is in the retracted position and the supporting member is in the closed position, the supporting member mates with the seat opening (22) to define a sitting surface, and when the supporting member is in the open position, a seat opening (22) is exposed.
FAIL-SAFE RELEASE MECHANISM FOR USE WITH PATIENT POSITIONING SUPPORT APPARATI
A fail-safe release mechanism for use with patient positioning support apparati having a base structure and a patient support structure, to prevent collapse of the patient support during disconnection of the patient support structure from the base structure.
SANITIZING FENDER FOR A WHEELCHAIR
A fender for sanitizing wheels of a wheelchair including a support frame and a fender housing. The support frame includes a mounting bracket for mounting the support frame on a vertical frame on the rear portion of the wheelchair. The fender housing is removably mounted on the support frame. The fender housing includes a plurality of Ultraviolet-C (UVC) light sources powered by a re-chargeable battery and a driver circuit. The plurality of UVC light sources are configured to sanitize a surface of a wheel of the wheelchair by virtue of illumination of surface of the wheel during rotation of the wheel.
Bed system and separation method
According to one embodiment, a bed system that is mechanically and electrically connectable to a main body of a medical image diagnosis apparatus includes a traveling unit and an interface. The traveling unit provided between the bed system and a floor surface. The interface configured to receive an operation of locking or unlocking driving of the traveling unit. The operation on the interface of locking or unlocking driving of the traveling unit is interlocked with electrical connection between the bed system and the main body.
CHAIR
A chair for particular use in clinical or hospital environments has a frame to which a support material is secured. The support material may form a chair back and/or a seat for the chair to provide support to the chair occupant. The support material may be made from a textile of interwoven strands wherein some of the interwoven strands include copper containing particles, such as copper iodide or copper oxide within the textile fibers.
Wheelchair traction devices and systems
Various implementations include a wheelchair traction attachment device. The device includes a frame having an arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis, an inner surface, an outer surface opposite and spaced apart from the inner surface. The frame has a first edge extending between the inner and outer surfaces, and a second edge spaced apart from the first edge. At least a portion of the inner surface defines a channel. The device includes at least one first wheel-clip extending radially inwardly from the first edge of the frame relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis. The device includes at least one second wheel-clip extending radially inwardly from the second edge of the frame relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis. The device includes a traction portion disposed along at least a portion of the outer surface, the traction portion extending radially outwardly from the outer surface relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis.
Systems and methods for indicating an open porthole in an infant care station
A system for safely containing an infant on a mattress is described. The system includes a base that supports the mattress and panels that extend upwardly from the base and together form an enclosure around the mattress. A porthole is defined through at least one of the panels, where the porthole provides access into the enclosure. A porthole door has locked and unlocked positions and covers the porthole only in the locked position. A detection system detects when the porthole door is in the unlocked position. A lighting system is operatively coupled to the detection system and is configured to emit light when the porthole door is detected to be in the unlocked position. A power system provides energy to the lighting system for emitting the light.
PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS HAVING PATIENT SUPPORT DECK AND GAP COVERING DECK SECTION
A patient support apparatus includes a support frame and a patient support deck operatively attached to the support frame. The patient support deck includes an adjacent pair of deck sections with a first one of the deck sections moveable between an initial configuration and a raised configuration. A gap covering deck section is slidingly engaged to a top surface of the first or second one of the adjacent deck sections and is pivotably coupled to either the other one of the deck sections or to the support frame, with the gap covering deck section configured to slide along the top surface in response to the movement of the first one of the deck sections so as to be at least partially disposed over a gap between the adjacent deck sections when the first one of the deck sections is in the raised configuration.
