Methods and disinfecting covers for use in disinfecting resilient medical patient pressure redistribution supports
A disinfecting cover for use in disinfecting a weight bearing upper surface of a resilient medical patient pressure redistribution support includes a thin barrier membrane drapable on top of the weight bearing upper surface of the resilient support, and a peripherally-extending edge terminating between the peripherally-extending side of the resilient support between the weight bearing upper surface and the bottom surface of the support. The thin barrier membrane comprises an anti-microbial disinfectant, and being non-fibrous, and impervious to the transfer of fluid from the first main surface to the second main surface. The thin barrier membrane comprises a thickness operable to maintain the weight distribution of a patient on the weight bearing upper surface of the resilient medical patient pressure redistribution support substantially the same compared to the weight distribution without the thin barrier membrane.
Slouch correction device and method
A slouch correction device and method for use on a seating surface of a chair or bed. The device comprises a flexible fabric sheet and a drawing mechanism associated with the fabric sheet. When actuated the drawing mechanism draws the fabric toward the back support, drawing the user's buttocks toward the back support.
Apparatus and methods for monitoring objects in a surgical field
A system and method for performing package status check are provided, including a scanner for use in a surgical field and having a circuit and an antenna for emitting a radio frequency detection field, the scanner further including control circuitry configured to determine a predetermined quantity of sponges corresponding to a complete pack of sponges; count a number of sponges associated with the pack with the scanner prior to use of the sponges in a surgical field; and issue an alert when a number of counted sponges does not match the predetermined quantity corresponding to the complete pack. The system and method may include the control circuitry configured to determine whether a sponge has been re-scanned or is unknown by comparing detected information with previously detected information prior.
HOSPITAL BED DRAWSHEET ADJUSTER SYSTEM, DEVICE, AND KIT
A system, device, and kit for repositioning a patient reposed on a bed including a housing configured to be mounted at a head of a bedframe; at least one roller supported by said housing; a flexible member is coupled to said at least one roller; a retracting head coupled to the flexible member, rotation of the at least one roller in a first direction effecting spooling of the cable onto the at least one roller and translation of the retracting head toward the head of the bed, the retracting head including a mouth section; and a clamp, the clamp being rotatably coupled to the mouth section and being configured to releasably secure a drawsheet positioned on the bed within the mouth section, the clamp having an edge having a corresponding shape to a first surface of the mouth section such that the shape of the edge approximates the shape of the first surface of the mouth section when the clamp is rotated toward a locked condition in which the drawsheet is releasably secured within the mouth section.
Apparatus and Methods for Monitoring Objects in a Surgical Field
Apparatus and methods for identifying and counting objects having identifiers entering and exiting a surgical field are provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus has an entry scanner, a hand held scanner and an exit scanner for generating a detection field and for receiving data which identifies said objects. In another embodiment, the apparatus has a plurality of lower antennas and an upper antenna for generating a detection field and for receiving data which identifies said objects. Various surgical devices with identifiers and methods for preventing electromagnetic coupling between and protecting objects and identifier are also provided. The invention further provides apparatus and methods comprising a handheld scanner and a mat adapted to underlie a patient during a surgical procedure.

DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE ON TABLES FOR INFECTION CONTROL
Disclosed are devices and methods for providing a sanitary surface for objects on an over-bed table like that found in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, etc. The devices include a case in which a stack of sanitary mats is located. The case is configured to be mounted on the top of the table. The uppermost of the mats of the stack is exposed through an open top window of the case to serve as a sanitary surface upon which objects can be placed. That mat is configured to be removed from the case, e.g., either being peeled off of the stack through the open window, or slid out of the case through a slot, to thereby expose the upper surface of the underlying mat in the window.
