Orthopedic device providing metered toe traction with variable adduction, dorsiflexion and rotation angles, including lateral glide of the first metatarsal head
In device for placing a toe of a patient's foot in traction may broadly include a shoe portion (e.g., a sole, counter, and strap(s)); a toe attachment apparatus (e.g., a Chinese finger trap) having a cable extending therefrom; a pulley, with the cable wrapped about the pulley; and an apparatus (e.g., a ratchet, an actuator, and the like) configured to apply tension to the cable to create traction in the toe. A second actuator may adjust lateral positioning of the pulley relative to the shoe portion to set a desired angle of adduction for the traction provided to the toe by the cable. A meter may be coupled to the cable to indicate an amount of tension provided thereto. Another actuator may adjust elevational positioning of the pulley relative to the shoe portion to set a desired angle of dorsiflexion for the traction provided to the toe by the cable.
Foot training device and foot training method
A training device is provided for training a foot using the device. The training device includes a fulcrum placed at a center and four projections that project in different directions from the fulcrum. Each of the four projections have elastic members that are bendable. The training device is configured to improve foot muscle strength by bending and stretching the elastic members. At least two of the four projections have different degrees of elasticity in flexure as determined when a force is applied to a distal end of each of the at least two projections to bend the elastic members. The four projections project in cross directions from the fulcrum at the center. Each pair of projections that oppose each other across the fulcrum are arranged on a straight line.
Foot Stretching Device
A foot stretching device for stretching the structures of a foot comprises a base for receiving a rear portion of the foot to be stretched and a toe plate for receiving the toes of the foot to be stretched. The toe plate is disposed on and pivotable relative to the base. The device further comprises a member coupled to and/or configured to engage the toe plate, such that a tensile force applied to the member by a user pivots the toe plate relative to the base. and thus the user's toes relative to the rear portion of their foot. This action causes the toes to move into a more extended position thus producing a stretch in the tissues of the foot, in particular the musculature associated with the planar fascia.
FOOT TRAINING DEVICE AND FOOT TRAINING METHOD
A training device and a method for training a foot using the using the device; the device including a fulcrum placed at a center, four projections, and projecting in different directions from the fulcrum, each of the four projections having, at least in a portion thereof, elastic members that are bendable. The training device is configured to improve foot muscle strength by bending and stretching the elastic members. At least two of the four projections have different degrees of elasticity in flexure as determined when a force is applied to a distal end of each of the at least two projections to bend the elastic members. The four projections project in cross directions from the fulcrum at the center, and, for each pair of projections that oppose each other across the fulcrum, the projections are arranged on a straight line. None of the four projections has an annular structure.
Augmenting human motion
A system for augmenting the motion of a person includes an assistance apparatus with a first attachment for connecting the assistance apparatus to a first point on the person's body, a second attachment for connecting the apparatus to a second point on the person's body, an actuator for applying force between the first and second attachment points, the force augmenting motion of a part of the body, and a set of sensors detecting reaction force on the person's body when moving in the manner that the actuator augments. A control system implements a negative feedback loop, in which the force applied by the actuator is based on a weighted sum of measurements from the sensors, and is updated continuously based on the sensor measurements.
Motion assistance apparatus
A motion assistance apparatus including a proximal support configured to support a proximal part of a user, a first drive link and a second drive link configured to perform translational motions with respect to the proximal support at different velocities, a support link with both ends rotatably connected to the first drive link and the second drive link, respectively, the support link having a variable length, and a distal support connected to the support link, the distal support configured to support a distal part of the user is provided.
Passive-dynamic correction device for hallux valgus and associated deformities
The invention is a passive-dynamic hallux valgus correction device (described as HalluxSTOP) and coexisting static defects of the feet with the function of passive and dynamic valgus correction, often with coexisting transversely flat and flat-valgus feet. The device strength the weak and stretches the contracted feet muscles, restoring the physiological balance of the pulling power of muscles. It has a dynamizing and relaxing function with tonus balancing between muscles. Also, it has a passive function consisting of stretching extra-articular and articular contractures. The device is used in prevention (prevents the development of the above-mentioned feet defects) and treatment (inhibits the deepening of the above-mentioned feet defects and restores the physiological feet architecture. The invention is applicable in the field of non-operative orthopedic treatment and medical rehabilitation as well as in recreational sport as an additional exercise device, e.g. of the fitness type.
Device and method for foot exercise
There is provided a foot exercising device and method of exercising a foot using the device. The foot exercising device includes a foot support, a lift wedge, and a tilting arrangement. The foot support includes an elevated footrest to support a foot of a person thereon and a platform, having an extensive floor-contact area when in operation, coupled to the elevated footrest for supporting the elevated footrest on a floor. The lift wedge to be arranged on the elevated footrest is operable to receive the toes thereon. The tilting arrangement includes a pair of spaced apart fixed plates coupled to the elevated footrest, a pair of spaced apart movable plates hingedly coupled to the fixed plates, a centre plate arranged between the pair of spaced apart movable plates, and a rod pivotally coupled to the centre plate to exert pressure on at least the heel, the middle foot bones and the toes to perform foot correction exercises.
Motion assistance apparatus
A motion assistance apparatus includes a proximal support configured to support a proximal part of a user, a first drive link and a second drive link configured to perform translational motions with respect to the proximal support at different velocities, a support joint rotatably connected to the second drive link, a support body connecting the first drive link and the support joint, the support body configured to simultaneously perform a translational motion and a rotational motion with respect to the proximal support, a distal support connected to the support body, the distal support configured to support a distal part of the user, and a torque providing device configured to provide a torque to rotate the support joint.
