Therapeutic putties containing additives including processed human blood plasma
Provided herein are settable and non-settable compositions for use in surgical procedures comprising a variety of disclosed particles and optionally including previously unclotted, lyophilized, optionally crosslinked mammalian blood plasma. Also provided are related compositions, including surgical kits and packages, as well as methods of making and using the compositions.
ULTRA HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE ARTICLES AND METHODS OF FORMING ULTRA HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE ARTICLES
The present invention generally provides implantable articles and methods of forming implantable articles from a crosslinked ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (“UHMWPE”) blend stabilized with Vitamin E. The crosslinked UHMWPE blend may be prepared by combining the UHMWPE material and vitamin E prior to irradiating the UHMWPE blend with electron beam radiation at a sufficient radiation dose rate to induce crosslinking. The crosslinked UHMWPE blend may be incorporated into a variety of implants, and in particular, into endoprosthetic joint replacements
CROSSLINKABLE PREPOLYMERS FOR CHEMICALLY STABLE POLYMER GELS
The invention relates to water soluble crosslinkable prepolymers for the preparation of chemically stable crosslinked polymer gels, a process for preparing the same, compositions containing the same and their use such as a medical or dental filler composition.
FGF-18 formulation in alginate/collagen hydrogels
The invention relates to the field of pharmaceutical formulations. More particularly, it is directed to homogeneous hydrogels comprising Fibroblast Growth Factor 18 (FGF-18) compound and to methods of producing such hydrogels. The hydrogels of the invention can be used, once formed in situ, for the treatment of cartilage disorders such as osteoarthritis or cartilage injury.
METHOD FOR COATING A MEDICAL IMPLANT
A method for coating a medical implant applies at least one coating to at least one surface of the implant by plasma polymerization. The implant has pores sized in the nanometer range. The method stabilizes the pores. The plasma polymerization is conducted in the presence of a coating gas and oxygen. A coating parameter can be selected so that a rough surface of the implant is coated. An implant includes a membrane having pores sized in the nanometer range. A surface of the implant is at least partially coated with a plasma polymer. The interior of the pores is uncoated.
Antioxidant stabilized crosslinked ultra high molecular weight polyethylene for medical device applications
An antioxidant combined with UHMWPE prior to subjecting the UHMWPE to crosslinking irradiation. In one exemplary embodiment, the antioxidant is tocopherol. After the antioxidant is combined with the UHMWPE, the resulting blend may be formed into slabs, bar stock, and/or incorporated into a substrate, such as a metal, for example. The resulting product may then be subjected to crosslinking irradiation. In one exemplary embodiment, the UHMWPE blend is preheated prior to subjecting the same to crosslinking irradiation. Once irradiated, the UHMWPE blended product may be machined, packaged, and sterilized in accordance with conventional techniques.
High temperature melting
The present invention relates to methods for making wear and oxidation resistant polymeric materials by high temperature melting. The invention also provides methods of making medical implants containing cross-linked antioxidant-containing tough and ductile polymers and materials used therewith also are provided.
BIOLOGIC BREAST IMPLANT
The present disclosure provides tissue products produced from adipose tissues, as well as methods for producing such tissue products. The tissue products can include acellular tissue matrices produced in multiple layers for treatment of a breast.
Injectable in situ polymerizable collagen composition
The present invention is directed to injectable acid soluble collagen compositions comprising a neutralized solution of an acid soluble collagen, EDTA and preferably a polyol, wherein the composition is injectable at physiological pH and the acid soluble collagen polymerizes upon exposure to tissue. The invention is suitable for use in soft tissue augmentation, promoting soft tissue regeneration and coating medical implants and devices.
MEDICAL DEVICE AND PROCESS OF PREPARING A MEDICAL DEVICE
The present invention relates to a medical device to be applied to a body of a human or animal being. The medical device comprises a contact surface to contact the body of the human or animal being when the medical device is applied to the body of the human or animal being. The contact surface is covered with a soluble surface sealing. The surface sealing is composed of an organic compound.
