Aspiration device with vacuum limiter
09750637 · 2017-09-05 · ·

Systems, devices, and methods include a hand-held instrument with an aspiration conduit extending therethrough and with an aspiration needle arranged to aspirate fluid from a surgical site. A vacuum limiter is associated with the aspiration conduit. The vacuum limiter includes an opening formed in a wall of the aspiration conduit, an actuator disposed in the opening, and a biasing element biasing the actuator to a closed position that prevents passage of fluid through the opening. The biasing element is arranged to permit the actuator to displace from the closed position to a relief position so that fluid passes through the opening when a threshold vacuum is reached within the lumen. The actuator can further displace to an override position that prevents passage of fluid through the opening.

SUCTION ADAPTER DEVICE

Aspects of embodiments of the present invention disclose a suction adapter used in aspirating fluid from a particular site. The adapter device may include a nozzle configured to connect with suction tubing connected with a suction source, a drain end, structurally configured to connect the adapter with a drain tube, where the drain tube may be used to aspirate a site such as a surgical site. The adapter may also include: a channel within the adapter enabling fluid flow and a suction controlling fenestration extending from the channel to the adapter's external surface. The fenestration enables a user, by progressively opening or closing the fenestration, to vary suction within the suction adapter which, in turn, varies the flow of fluid through the adapter.

A suction and irrigation apparatus includes: a handle having a mounting space therein; an insertion unit extending from the handle and inserted into a patient's abdominal cavity; and a suction and supply unit disposed in the mounting space and supplying an irrigation fluid to the insertion unit or suctioning blood or other contaminated fluids from the patient's abdominal cavity through the insertion unit.

Vacubrasion: universal air flow regulator and attachment for vacuum assisted microdermabrasion

The present invention provides a novel microdermabrasion system that provides safe and effective treatment for skin conditions such as acne, aging and sallow skin, fine wrinkles, surface skin scars, and other visually unappealing cosmetic skin disfigurements. This new invention provides a universal attachment and air flow/suction regulator which permits micro diamond chip based, crystal free microdermabrasion using a variety of standard vacuums and home based cleaning vacuums. Whereas currently available microdermabrasion devices have required a dedicated internal built in vacuum, this new invention allows the use of the universal attachment to most types of vacuums.

REMOTELY CONTROLLED SUCTION/IRRIGATION FOR SURGERY

A system for the movement of fluids into and out of a surgical field is provided with a control module manipulated by a user; a valve controlled by the user via the control module, the valve controlling flow of a fluid; and a tube set having a proximal branch and a distal branch, wherein the proximal branch is opened and closed by the valve and at least a portion of the distal branch being flexible and a distal tip of the distal branch configured for manipulation within a surgical field. The valve is disposed at a distance to the surgical field and allows free access to tube by the user. Separate proximal branches for suction, irrigation, and insufflation are provided. One or more distal branches may be provided.

A device for visualizing and providing suction for a surgical procedure in an ear may include a handle, a main shaft extending from the handle, an imaging sensor at a distal end of the main shaft, a light source at the distal end of the main shaft, and a suction shaft extending from the handle. The device may also include a spring coupled with the suction shaft and/or the handle, such that when the suction shaft is advanced in a distal direction and then released, the suction shaft retracts automatically. The suction shaft may have a distal curved portion, and the device may have a thumb depress portion that allows a user to spin the suction shaft to suction in different directions. Some embodiments may include a suction shaft with a sharp distal tip that is configured for placing an ear tube in the tympanic membrane.

Flow control system

A flow control system for an ultrasonic aspirator handpiece having an aspiration pathway having an inner nosecone operatively connected to the handpiece. A flow control mechanism is disposed over the inner nosecone defining a flow control channel therebetween. The flow control channel is operatively connected to the aspiration pathway. A control aperture of the flow control mechanism is configured for variable engagement by a digit of an operator between an open position and a closed position for corresponding variable adjustment of an aspiration flow rate.

RETRACTABLE BACKFLUSH INSTRUMENT

Certain embodiments provide an apparatus comprising a hand-piece, an outer tube coupled to the hand-piece, an inner tube housed within the outer tube and having a distal end coupled to a soft tip and a proximal end coupled to an adapter, a proximal end of the adapter coupled to a distal end of a valve, the valve slidably coupled to the hand-piece, and a core slidably coupled to the hand-piece and having a distal end coupled to a proximal end of the valve. To retract the soft tip, the valve is retracted, causing the adapter, the valve, and the core to slidably retract in a proximal direction in relation to the hand-piece, and to extend the soft tip, the valve is protracted, causing the adapter, the valve, and the core to slidably protract in a distal direction in relation to the hand-piece.
