COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR MANAGING OUTFLOW FROM A SURGICAL PROCEDURE
20220040387 · 2022-02-10 ·

A fluid collection system includes a vacuum source, a collection vessel, and a surgical drape. A fluid outflow line is connected between the surgical drape and the collection vessel. The fluid outflow line provides a path for fluid to the collection vessel. A suction line is connected with the collection vessel. The suction line provides suction to draw fluid through the fluid outflow line to the collection vessel. The suction line branches into a first suction line and a second suction line parallel with the first suction line. The first suction line and the second suction line are each connected with the vacuum source. A flow restrictor is disposed along the first suction line. A valve is disposed along the second suction line. The valve is opened in a pulsatile fashion when fluid is present in the surgical drape to increase a level of suction provided to the surgical drape.

A medical device that includes a shaft defining a lumen and a distal portion, the distal portion defining a side opening in fluid communication with the lumen. The medical device includes a device coupled to the distal portion of the shaft and overlying the side opening. The device includes an expandable member configured to expand laterally outward from a collapsed state to an expanded state, and configured to permit fluid to flow through the expandable member and into the side opening. The device includes a constricting device positioned in contact with the expandable member and configured to move relative to the expandable member from a first position to a second position. The expandable member is in the collapsed state when the constricting device is in the first position and the expandable member is in the expanded state when the constricting device is in the second position.

ROTARY VALVE CONFIGURATION FOR A SURGICAL CASSETTE

A system for distributing fluid during a surgical procedure is disclosed, comprising a plurality of valves at least partially enclosed in a surgical cassette, at least one vacuum source fluidly connected to at least one of the plurality of valves, and at least one fluid source fluidly connected to at least one of the plurality of valves, wherein each valve is responsive to at least one received signal indicative of at least one parameter associated with one of fluid pressure and fluid volume.

SYSTEM LEVEL FLUIDICS AND CONTROLS

A pressure and vacuum pump including at least two diaphragm pump heads for providing vacuum and pressure simultaneously. The dual function pump reduces number of required pumps, is traditionally quieter, and enables the system to run at a lower duty cycle. A drive in the pump housing causes a connecting rod to oscillate a diaphragm to move up and down thereby causing air to be either drawn into an inlet or forced out via an exhaust.

SURGICAL SUCTION DEVICE THAT USES POSITIVE PRESSURE GAS

Described herein are devices, systems, and methods for generating a variable liquid vacuum with an accompanying stable gas flow rate. In particular, when a suction device suctions a liquid and gas mixture it is advantageous to provide a variable vacuum or vacuum to apply to the liquid component while the flow rate of the gas stays constant or essentially constant.

Systems and methods for delivering fluid to a wound therapy dressing

Provided are systems and methods for delivery of fluid to a wound therapy dressing. In exemplary embodiments, a pressure source provides negative pressure to a wound dressing and positive pressure to an actuator that expels fluid from a fluid reservoir.

Container for drainage of fluids or wound secretion

The invention relates to a container for drainage of fluids or wound secretion, comprising an inlet opening to connect with a drainage line and an outlet opening for releasing waste air accumulated inside the container during drainage, which is characterized in that the container is pre-evacuated, and the outlet opening is sealable, so that the container is transferable in a first and in a second operating condition, wherein in the first operating condition the outlet opening is sealed, so that a suction can be achieved at the inlet opening caused by the vacuum inside the container, and in the second operating condition the outlet opening is opened, so that air can enter the container through the outlet opening and neutralize the vacuum present inside the container.

Compact sound suppressing muffler for breast vacuum pumps

A sound suppression system for reducing or eliminating sound produced by the operation of a breast vacuum pump includes a sound suppressing muffler assembly having an air entry port adapted to communicate with an air outlet port of a vacuum pump or other air flow generating device. The sound suppressing muffler assembly also includes a muffler housing defining an internal space communicating with the air entry port, and an opening in the housing leading to atmosphere. The muffler housing has a tortuous air path in the muffler housing. In one embodiment, sound absorbing porous foam structure is disposed in the tortuous air path. The at least one sound absorbing porous structure absorbs sound energy from the air as the air moves through the at least one air path toward the opening in the muffler housing. In further embodiments, a tortuous air path is provided between an air entry port and an opening to atmosphere in the muffler assembly.

ANTI-CLOG SUCTION TIP APPARATUS AND METHOD

An anti-clog suction tip apparatus includes a suction tip having a suction opening and an interior defining a suction channel. An ejection wire channel extends to a wire exit opening into the suction channel that is located proximate the suction opening. An ejection wire including a ball tip at an end thereof occupies the ejection wire channel and is transitionable between a retracted configuration and an advanced configuration such that, in the retracted configuration, the ejection wire including the ball tip is retained within the ejection wire channel and does not obstruct suctioning of debris through the suction channel; and in the advanced configuration, the ball tip of the ejection wire does not extend more than three millimeters beyond the suction opening.
