MEDICAL VALVE WITH A VARIABLE DIAMETER SEAL
A medical valve assembly includes a tube extending between a first tube end and a second tube end to define a passageway extending along a longitudinal axis between the ends. A plunger plate extends radially from the second tube end of the tube, and a valve housing surrounds the tube about the second tube end and extends from a first valve housing end to a second valve housing end. The valve housing includes a housing flange extending radially inwardly from the second valve housing end and disposed in spaced relationship with the plunger plate to define a distance dimension D extending therebetween. An elastomeric seal is compressed between the plunger plate and the housing flange, and one of the valve housing and the tube is axially movable relative to the other to vary the distance between said plunger plate and said housing flange and adjust an inner diameter of the elastomeric seal.

A catheter hub assembly. The catheter hub assembly includes a catheter hub body, a septum and a septum retainer, the catheter hub body having a distal end, a proximal and an internal wall defining an internal fluid passageway therebetween, the internal wall defining a transitional step within the internal fluid passageway, the septum positioned within the internal fluid passageway such that a distal end of the septum abuts up against the transitional step, the septum retainer at least partially receivable within the internal fluid passageway and having an outer wall shaped and sized to interlock with the inner wall of the catheter hub body, the outer wall including one or more lateral ribs configured to inhibit rotation of the septum retainer relative to the catheter hub body.
Introducer assembly with cap and method of using same
An introducer sheath assembly (10) having a sheath tube (12), a hub (16), a valve (30) and a valve-retaining cap (50) on the proximal end of the hub. The cap (50) is so secured to the hub (16) as to have a closed, locked position and also an open position permitting access to the interior of the hub and the valve (30) while the cap (50) remains secured to the hub (16).
Catheter assemblies with valves and related methods
Needle assemblies with valves and related methods are disclosed. An exemplary needle assembly includes a needle hub with a needle attached to a distal end of the needle hub and a catheter hub having a wall structure defining an interior cavity and a catheter tube extending distally therefrom having the needle projecting through the catheter tube. A valve with a cylindrical walled structure and a disc with a plurality of slits and flaps are located in the interior cavity of the catheter hub in which the cylindrical walled structure defines an open proximal end. A plurality of flexible ribs can be included and connect to an interior wall surface of the cylindrical walled structure and the disc with an actuator disposed inside the interior cavity of the catheter hub and having a distal end sized and shaped to project into the open proximal end of the valve.
CATHETER HUB ADAPTED TO BE USED WITH MULTIUSE BLOOD CONTROL VALVE
A catheter hub of a safety needle assembly that includes a multiuse valve uses a proximal portion of the catheter as an actuator to open the partition membrane of the valve when the valve is subjected to an external biasing force. In another embodiment, the actuator is formed as an integral component of the catheter hub.

A hemostasis valve hub for an introducer sheath includes a hub base, a hub cap configured for engagement with the hub base, the hub cap having a first wall with a first opening and a second opening extending through the first wall, a manifold positioned within the hub cap and adjacent the hub base, a primary seal positioned adjacent the first opening of the hub cap, a secondary seal positioned adjacent the second opening of the hub cap, and wherein the primary seal and the secondary seal are configured to provide a fluid seal between the first opening and the second opening, respectively, and the hub base.
