Systems and methods for accessing small arteries for conveying catheters to target vessels such as brain vessels are described. In particular, the invention describes systems enabling a catheter to be introduced directly through a vessel opening without an external sheath wherein a distal tip of the catheter is protected by a protective cover. Methods of introducing catheters into vessels and kits are also described.

Introducer with expandable capabilities

An introducer may include a layered tubular member having an inner liner including at least one folded portion extending along a distal region of the inner liner in a delivery configuration; a reinforcing member disposed over at least a portion of the inner liner, the reinforcing member including a plurality of longitudinal spines defining a plurality of openings disposed between adjacent longitudinal spines, wherein each folded portion is circumferentially overlapped by one of the plurality of openings; and an outer sheath disposed over the reinforcing member, wherein the outer sheath includes at least one perforation circumferentially overlapping each folded portion; and a tip member fixedly attached to a tapered distal region of the layered tubular member. The inner liner may extend to a distal end of the layered tubular member. At least a portion of each folded portion may terminate proximal of the distal end of the layered tubular member.

An infusion filter design combines a fluid infusion device and a blood filtration device that filter blood during a thrombolysis procedure while allowing for complete filter removal on procedure completion. In one embodiment, a wire comprises a proximal, non-infusible length that extends partially outside of the patient and within the vein. The wire further comprises an infusible length distally from the non-infusible length that is extends within the vein so as to be placed at the section of the vein requiring medication. The wire also comprises a distal filter component at a distal end of the wire that is employed to filter the blood in the event that during the period that clot is dissolved it migrates toward the central circulation.

INVERTING THROMBECTOMY APPARATUSES AND METHODS OF USE

Described herein are methods using mechanical inverting tube apparatuses to remove clot (e.g., thrombectomy), the apparatuses including an inversion support catheter having an expandable funnel-shaped distal end, and a flexible tube that can be continuously rolled over the funnel-shaped distal end and invert into the inner lumen of the inversion support catheter.

An elongated catheter assembly defines a catheter lumen configured to receive the distal guidewire section of the guidewire, and also defines an axial portal and a radial portal. A guidewire deflector is mounted to the elongated catheter assembly. The guidewire deflector is configured to selectively deflect urged axial movement of the distal guidewire section of the guidewire away from the axial portal and radially toward the radial portal.

Cannula delivery catheter and procedure method

The medical device may comprise an elongate body having a proximal portion, a distal portion, and defining a lumen therethrough. Also, the medical device may include an expandable element coupled to the distal portion of the elongate body and in fluid communication with the lumen. The expandable element may define a first end and a second end, the second end being proximal to the first end. The medical device may further include a cannula surrounding at least a portion of the elongate body and the cannula may define a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the cannula may be disposed proximal and adjacent to the second end of the expandable element. An outer dimctcr diameter of the cannula may be substantially equal to or lesser than an outer diameter of the expandable element when inflated. The medical device may be maneuvered through a patient's body.

MRI-compatible cryocatheters and system

A system and device for cryoablation of tissue that is suitable for use within an MRI environment. The device may include an elongate body, a treatment element at the distal portion of the elongate body, and one or more pull fibers. The pull fibers may be composed of a non-ferromagnetic material, such as a polymer. Likewise, none of the other device components may be composed of a ferromagnetic material. The device may also include at least one fiber optic sensor. The elongate body distal portion may include a distal tip to which the pull fibers are directly coupled. Additionally or alternatively, the elongate body may include one or more pull fiber lumens configured to allow the pull fibers to deflect the distal portion when a pull force is exerted on the pull fibers.

Disclosed is a catheter device including a proximal tube having a first part of a first lumen; a distal tube having a second part of the first lumen; a second lumen connecting the proximal tube and the distal tube; wherein the connection comprise an area of discontinuity between the first part and second part; wherein the area of discontinuity comprises a support element configured to resist axial movement of the distal tube relative to the proximal tube and vice versa; and wherein the second lumen is arranged to activate or cause at least one obstruction element to restrict the flow of urine from the proximal tube to the area of discontinuity and to restrict the flow of urine from the area of discontinuity to the distal tube.
