The sphenopalatine fossa can be accessed via various routes, including percutaneously. Accessing the sphenopalatine fossa can include the step of inserting a needle-catheter system into the sphenopalatine fossa. Integrated needle-catheter systems as described herein can also be configured to access the trigeminal ganglion, epidural space, intrathecal space, and other desired anatomical locations.

A method of delivering a therapeutic agent to a nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disc is provided. The method comprises inserting a delivery tool containing the therapeutic agent through an anterior portion, a lateral portion, or an anterolateral portion of an annulus fibrosus and into the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc; and delivering the therapeutic agent to the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc. Devices and kits are also provided.

A lumen clamping means may utilize a clamp manipulator to effectively seal the tubing, and the manipulator may be operated by two fingers. A needle receptor may be utilized, and the receptor may utilize a compressible member to seal tightly against a needle inserted from outside the body, in order ensure secure placement into a channel. The channel may be in liquid communication with the tubing. The manipulator and the needle receptor may be palpable from outside the body.

Disclosed herein are vascular access systems and methods thereof. For example, a vascular access system includes a port configured for subdermal implantation and a single-use access device. The port can include a port hub and a catheter tube. The port hub can include an access funnel and a septum defining a pair of port-hub lumens. The catheter tube can include a septum defining a pair of catheter-tube lumens fluidly coupled to the pair of port-hub lumens. The access device can include a bifurcated hub and a pair of cannulas. The pair of cannulas defines a pair of cannula lumens coupled to a pair of access device-hub lumens of the bifurcated hub. The pair of cannulas can be configured to simultaneously insert into the access funnel and couple the pair of cannula lumens to the pair of catheter-tube lumens when the pair of cannulas is fully seated in the port hub.

Forward-Looking Precision Imaging Surgical Probe

A precision forward-looking image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic surgical probe and needle insert for microsurgery in support of imagery, neurology, neurosurgical procedures, and ophthalmic surgical applications comprising an introducer needle (stylet), a fiber carrier, a therapeutic conduit, and a spirographic method for scanning a target and associated algorithms to create and render a reconstructed image for display to a physician in real-time or near real-time. The probe implements Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to provide high-resolution extended imagery of an intended therapeutic or target tissue. A separate therapeutic conduit provides surgical access for therapeutic devices such as a cutting or ablation laser, an RF electrode for locally heating tissue, a lumen for local injection of neurolytics/paralytics, placement of electrodes for neuromodulation, and deployment of a micro-endoscopic imaging tool. A third working channel supports the delivery of neurolytic and other fluids.

Retractable needle catheter delivery apparatus

A catheter insertion system includes a housing extending along a longitudinal axis. A needle extends distally from a distal end of the housing. The needle has a longitudinal passage coaxially aligned with the housing. A catheter has a length and is sized and shaped to be advanced from a retracted position within the longitudinal passage of the needle to an extended position with at least a portion of the catheter length extending beyond a distal tip of the needle. The needle is typically configured to be retracted back into the housing after the catheter has been advanced, thus providing an integrated catheter and catheter insertion apparatus. After needle retraction, the housing may be taped to the patient's skin while the needle remains protected within the housing. A luer on the catheter may then be connected to a fluid or other source in an otherwise conventional manner.

A catheter assembly includes: a catheter; a catheter hub fixed to the catheter; an inner needle inserted through the catheter; a grip that fixes and holds the inner needle; and a support structure portion that contacts an outer peripheral surface of the catheter at a contact position to support an outer side of the catheter in an assembled state. In the assembled state, the support structure portion presses the catheter at the contact position without clamping the catheter at the contact position, and thereby deflects the catheter so that the catheter is curved along an extending direction when viewed from a direction orthogonal to the extending direction.
