20220370820 · 2022-11-24 ·

A stimulation system includes an energy source, an electronics unit with a controller, and an actuator that is coupled with the electronics unit and/or the energy source. The actuator emits electromagnetic waves for stimulation of genetically manipulated tissue. The electronics unit is disposed in a housing. The stimulation system is configured for at least temporary implantation in a human or animal body. The controller controls the stimulation of tissue in the body by way of the electromagnetic waves emitted by the actuator. A selector of the stimulation system selects the area of the said tissue for stimulation. The selector includes a masking device for masking certain areas of the tissue, so that an intensity of the stimulation for the masked areas is reduced or equal to zero.

Photobiomodulation therapy to reduce the effects of fibromyalgia

Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) can be applied to a tender area on a subject's body to treat fibromyalgia. A light source device can be contacted to a subject's skin proximal to a tender area on the subject's body. A light signal (with wavelengths from the red to infrared part of the spectrum) can be applied in at least one of a pulsed operating mode, a continuous operating mode, and a super-pulsed operating mode through the light source device to the tender area. The light signal is applied for a time sufficient to stimulate a phototherapeutic response in the tender area to treat fibromyalgia.

A catheter is disclosed for performing ultraviolet light therapy in a pulmonary system of a patient, which includes a catheter body having opposed proximal and distal end portions, a handle assembly operatively associated with the proximal end portion of the catheter body, an illumination assembly operatively associated with the distal end portion of the catheter body and including an LED light source for generating UVC radiation, wherein the illumination assembly includes a coupler connecting the LED light source with the distal end portion of the catheter body, and an elongated braided sleeve disposed within the catheter body, wherein the coupler is adapted to transfer heat from the illumination assembly to the braided sleeve, such that the braided sleeve serves as a heat sink for the illumination assembly.

Hand-held Treatment Device Using LED Light Sources with Interchangeable Emitters
20220355127 · 2022-11-10 · ·

A hand-held light treatment device configured with interchangeable emitter heads that are pre-programmed with desired treatment protocols and updated from a remote store of treatment protocols. The removable emitter heads each contain one or more treatment LEDs, a tracking light, a task light, a proximity sensor, and a control module. A tip is attached to the emitter head, either removably or integral therewith. In in one embodiment, the tip is integral with the emitter head and emits light perpendicular to the handle. Some embodiments have tips of various shapes that attach to the emitter heads, which permits a single device to direct the emitted energy at nearly any direction. The tips can be disposable or reusable. The light-emitting device may be used in conjunction with distilled water to treat infections, sterilize wounds or to minimize infection prior to surgical closure.
