The protective ring is disposed in the recess of the pad. The protective ring has a through hole. The chip is disposed in the through hole of the protective ring and located in the recess of the pad. The upper lid is configured to cover the protective ring and the chip. The protective ring is disposed between the pad and the chip, which can disperse the force, improve a force-cushioning effect and protect the chip, so as to reduce a foreign body sensation and prolong the service life of the chip.

The present invention provides a device for rejuvenating a region of skin or mucosal tissue, comprising: a pulsed electromagnetic frequency generator; a plurality of electrodes in communication with the pulsed electromagnetic frequency generator and an RF tissue diathermy device. The electrodes apply the pulsed electromagnetic power and the RF tissue diathermy to the tissue, heating it such that one portion of the region of mucosal tissue is maintained at a predetermined temperature range T.sub.1 while another portion of the region of mucosal tissue is at least temporarily maintained at predetermined temperature range T.sub.2.

Systems and methods are provided for controlling infrared radiation (IR) sources of a sauna including tuning IR wavelength-ranges and radiated power-levels of IR sources, and directing IR to locations on a user's body. In one illustrative embodiment, a sauna may be provided having adjustable IR emitters to emit IR at any wavelength resulting in a desirable radiation treatment for the sauna user. In another illustrative embodiment, a method is provided for tuning IR emitters in a sauna.

According to the invention the device (17) is characterized in that the outer surface (19) of said optical cladding (2) is fused in the region (A) between said imperfections (18) to the inner surface (21), preferably the inner diameter, of the cap (7) and/or in that the outer surface (19) of said optical cladding (2) extending over a distance in front and/or behind the region (A) provided with the imperfections (18) is fused to the inner surface (21), preferably the inner diameter, of the cap (7).
METHODS TO RESCUE LIGHT SENSITIVITY IN RETINAS AFTER PHOTORECEPTOR DEGENERATION
The present invention is directed to the use of gold nanoparticles to enable vision in the visually impaired. Retinal neurons remain functional despite photoreceptor degeneration. These neurons can be made light-sensitive to produce action potentials, by gold nanoparticles conjugated to high-avidity ligands for a variety of cellular targets. Once bound to a neuron, these particles transduce millisecond pulses of light into heat, which changes membrane capacitance, depolarizing the cell and eliciting action potentials. The technology described herein along with a camera and decoder can be used to aid the visually impaired by stimulating cells to send the appropriate messages to the visual cortex.
