In various embodiments, an apparatus for exercising can include a housing, a first inner tube, a second inner tube, and a compression spring operable to resist motion when compressed. The first inner tube is coupled with a first end of the compression spring and the second inner tube is coupled with a second end of the compression spring. In addition, the apparatus can also include an extension spring inside the housing. Furthermore, a portion of the compression spring and a portion of each of the first and second inner tubes are inside the housing. Note that a first end of the extension spring is coupled with a first handle or loop and the second end of the extension spring is coupled with a second handle or loop. The extension spring is operable to provide resistance during pulling motion away from center of the apparatus.

In one aspect, an active exercise chair comprising seat support, wherein the seat support is rigidly affixed to a top section of a shaft of the gas spring; a seat, wherein the seat is connected to the seat support; a seatback support, wherein the seatback support is pivotably connected to the seat support about a discrete pivot point; a seatback carriage, wherein the seatback carriage is slidably connected to the seatback support, wherein the seatback carriage is connected to a seatback, and wherein the seatback traverses a translational path defined by the geometry of the seatback carriage and the seatback support.

A force measurement device has a motion dampening device having at least two ends. A first end is releasably engaged to a base frame and a second end is releasably engaged to a moveable member. A load cell is in communication with the motion dampening device. The load cell measures a force imparted by a user and the load cell registers the force to a display which depicts the registered force exerted by the user. A method for measuring the force a user imparts onto an exercise apparatus comprises the user imparting force onto a moveable member. The motion dampening device imparts a force substantially opposite to the user force and a load cell measures the force exerted by the user. The force is transmitted to a display wherein the display depicts the registered force imparted by the user.

Disclosed is a masticatory muscle exercise device. The masticatory muscle exercise device includes: an upper mouthpiece; a lower mouthpiece; and at least one elastic member applying elasticity to the upper mouthpiece and the lower mouthpiece. According to the masticatory muscle exercise device, a user can strengthen his/her masticatory muscles by actively exercising.

A compression golf swing training apparatus includes a hitting board mounted atop a framework and configured to move downwardly at the point of impact from the golf club striking the hitting board during a golf swing. Specifically, the downward motion of the hitting board, when struck with a golf club, compresses the compression springs in their holder imitating or replicating the feeling a golfer experiences when taking a divot of golf course grass during a golf swing. An exercise cable handle assembly is disclosed comprising a locking mechanism including a handle base and a flexible retaining clip. The handle base comprises a cable opening and two side clamps defining a locking channel. The two side clamps comprise gradated edges. The flexible retaining clip is U shaped and comprises at least one curved hook end configured to engage with the gradated edge when the flexible retaining clip is positioned in the locking channel. The exercise cable handle assembly further comprises a segment of an exercise cable comprising a tapered plug along the segment of cable and a handle frame coupled to the handle base. The locking mechanism secures the segment of the exercise cable to the handle base when a portion of the tapered plug is positioned in the cable opening and the flexible retaining clip partially surrounds the tapered plug when positioned in the locking channel.
