A press is mechanically coupled to the load mechanism to displace a load based on a selected weight and a sensor is disposed to measure an extent and speed of displacement of the load. A processor is in communication with the sensor, and the processor is configured to determine an indicator signal to send to the indicator device of one of the plurality of selectable weights of the load mechanism based on received performance data, the indicator signal used to indicate which one of the plural of weights to select.

A training boundary can be generated based on the user-agnostic training profile by determining the largest area under the user-agnostic training profile power curve for various time window sizes, where each largest area under the user-agnostic training profile power curve produces a data point for the training boundary for that window size domain value. The training boundary can be transformed based on the user boundary, causing corresponding transformations to the user-agnostics training profile, converting it to a user-specific workout.

An exercise sensing method, an exercise sensing apparatus and an exercise sensing system are provided. The exercise sensing system includes a computing device, a storage device and at least one biophysical quantity sensor disposed on at least one muscle portion of a user. In the method, a current muscle strength of the muscle portion when the user performs an exercise is monitored by the biophysical quantity sensor. An exercise history of the user is accessed to obtain a muscle strength reference value of the muscle portion when the user previously performed the exercise. The current muscle strength is compared with the muscle strength reference value so as to adjust an exercise intensity of the exercise.
