EDGE PROTECTOR MAT
An edge protector mat is formed from a mat with a top surface, a bottom surface, and a number of metal bars. The top surface contains a number of receptacles grouped into one or more pairs sized, shaped, and otherwise configured to receive opposing ends of the metal bars therein. Each of the metal bars define opposing ends, different ones of which are positioned within corresponding ones of the pair of the receptacles of the top surface. The metal bars are configured to prevent friction from being imparted onto the mat. At least one pair of the receptacles are positioned opposite one another on the mat allowing receipt of different portions of at least one of the metal bars.
Avalanche survival device comprising a breathing apparatus
A device, method and system improve the breathable air quality of the environment in the region of a specific part of a body, such as around the mouth and nose area of a person buried in an avalanche. The device includes at least one inlet, at least one pump, at least one power resource, a controller, and at least one outlet. An inlet of the pump is constructed to act as a chamber. A first end of the chamber is connected to the inlet and a second end of the chamber is an opening towards the outside of the device. When the pump is activated, the pump will provide a vacuum in the chamber and suck air from the surroundings into the pump through the second end of the chamber and the chamber.
HARNESSES
Harnesses and methods of their manufacture are disclosed. The harnesses include a structural sub-assembly for use in construction of a waist band of a harness, the structural assembly including two primary load-bearing elements and a semi-loadbearing flexible substrate sheet, Each primary load-bearing element is formed from elongate, flexible textile webbing that extends, typically in a loop, that passes through multiple apertures in the sheet to form a woven structure with the sheet, Lengths of the two primary load-bearing elements (or one primary load-bearing element and another component of the structure) extend from a center line of the sheet upon one another and form a structure having three or more layers including the sheet The sub-assembly can be constructed by mounting the sheet on a jig and threading webbing components through apertures in the sheet prior to forming stitching to secure the webbing components.

Rope edge protection system
A rope edge protection system having a rope protection mat and an edge protection mat in combination for the protection of rope. The rope protection mat is a generally rectangular sheet that can be secured in a sleeve-like configuration around a climbing rope and move along the rope with the user. The edge protection mat is a generally rectangular sheet with loops on each corner, but not limited to the corners, to secure the sheet in place against a building or other structure. The edge protection mat is a multi-layer sheet with a high loft layer to decrease the bend radius of the rope across a ledge. Both the rope protection mat and the edge protection mat include visual safety indicators.

DEVICE FOR RELEASABLY RETAINING CARABINER
A device for releasably retaining a carabiner, said device includes: an elongate body with a jaw member hingedly attached at a first position thereto, said jaw member being movable towards and away from the elongate body in a first plane; a first projecting member and a second projecting member extending outwardly from a first side of the elongate body and away from the first plane; a third projecting member extending outwardly from a first side of the jaw member and away from the first plane, wherein the first projecting member and the second projecting member are configured to receive a spine of a carabiner inserted therebetween and whereupon third projecting member is configured to urge a gate of the carabiner toward the spine of the carabiner.

ATTACHMENT DEVICE TO AN ANCHOR POINT AND METHOD FOR USING THE ATTACHMENT DEVICE
An attachment device to an anchor point comprises a wire-like element provided with two ends a first end of which has a first ring. A clamp has two ends a first end of which can be inserted in the first ring. The second clamp end presents a second cross-section larger than the first cross-section. The first clamp end defines a through hole receiving a rope supporting a user. The second end of the wire-like element is fixed to the clamp via a first attachment point between the through hole and the second clamp end. A cord has a first end fixed to the clamp via a second attachment point and a second end with a second ring.
Avalanche self-rescue device
An avalanche self-rescue device uses an MEMS accelerometer and possibly a gyroscope in order to determine its orientation relative to the gravitational horizon. Whenever the device is oriented vertically with respect to the gravitational horizon (pointing gravitationally upwardly), a speaker emits a tone to so indicate and possibly a light illuminates in conjunction with the sound output. A different tone and possibly a different light output may be dispensed whenever the accelerometer is not oriented vertically with respect to the gravitational horizon. The device can be a standalone device, incorporated in an item of clothing, safety equipment, etc., or integrated into another electronic device such as a rescue beacon or a cellular phone.
