A sensing system and method determines whether a slow pitch softball has been delivered in a strike zone. The system includes: a dual, mirror image slow-pitch software home plate; the home plate having an upper surface and a lower surface; the lower surface configured for attachment to ground; the upper surface comprising a pressure or impact sensing array covering at least edges of the upper surface of the home plate; the sensing array having a battery source for powering the system; the sensing array issuing an electrical signal when sensing pressure or impact; and the electrical signal connected to an audio or visual output device that indicates receiving of the electrical signal by a visual or audio emission.

Performance testing of an athlete uses a gate which provides status indications for the athlete during the test and a sensor which detects movement of the athlete from a start position. A controller communicates with the gate and the sensor to conduct the test. The controller receives athlete movement data and determines first movement characteristics of the athlete at the start position.

The present invention includes systems and methods for automated detection and visualization of offside positions. In soccer, offside is determined by the position of a player relative to the position of players on the opposing team and/or the soccer ball. The present invention provides systems and methods for tracking the location of players on a soccer field and for determining whether a player is in an offside position. The present invention further includes an imaging system for tracking the location of a boundary object that determines where offside positions begin. The system is then operable to enhance image and video data using the data collected during detection of offside positions.

A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. These systems and methods can provide useful metrics for players and coaches relating to athletic performances in various sports, including various team sports.

A sports training system includes an array of break beam sensors. Each sensor is configured to detect a passage of an object, such as a hockey puck, between adjacent posts and provide information for the passage to a controller communicatively attached to the array of sensors. A mobile application is configured to receive information from the controller and provide, for presentation to a user, passage statistics for the passages completed by one or more players. Servers are located in at least one data center. The servers are configured to receive and store the passage statistics and to provide access to the passage statistics.

The present disclosure provides a new and innovative system for sport design, tracking, and sharing. The system includes a set of wireless components in communication with a computing system. The computing system may include a graphical user interface, and at least in some instances, communicates over a network with an external system such as a social media platform. Through the graphical interface, a user may program rules to a sport into the wireless components. The user or users may perform the sport with the programmed wireless components, which analyze the actions performed according to the programmed rules. The analysis and other data collected by the wireless components may be reviewed by the users after playing the sport. Furthermore, the data collected and the rules programmed into the wireless components may be shared online to the external system for rating and ranking by an online community.
