Injection Molded Ski
20230293967 · 2023-09-21 ·

An injection-molded ski includes a ski body and two ski edges attached to opposite edge surfaces of the ski body. The ski body is formed from a uniform material and has top, bottom, and edge surfaces and a binding mounting platform. The binding mounting platform is formed on the top surface and receives a boot binding. The ski edges comprise an edge portion and securing features. In one embodiment, a ski is injection-molded using a molding material, such as glass-reinforced nylon or a combination of one or more suitable materials. A novel mold facilitates injection of molding material around and/or between the securing features thereby locking the edges in place when the molding material cools. Compared to conventional skis, the novel injection-molded ski has improved durability, flexibility, strength, and performance characteristics, reduced manufacturing complexity that avoids typical layup processes, and reduced susceptibility to failure due to moisture or wear.

Snow ski assemblies

A snow ski assembly is provided for use by an individual to slide across a snow covered surface, for example, under the force of gravity. The assembly includes a ski having a bottom wall for engaging the snow covered surface and an upturned peripheral region extending around a perimeter of the bottom wall. The bottom wall of the ski includes at least one control structure extending across at least a portion of the bottom wall, where the at least one control structure is configured to control a movement of the ski on the snow covered surface. The assembly also includes a mounting feature configured to couple a binding to the bottom wall of the ski, such that the individual can position a foot in the binding and use the ski to slide across the snow covered surface.

Inline skate grinding soulplate

An inline skate boot contouring designed for improved grinding capabilities may include a soul plate with an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner edge being configured to abut a frame on an inline skate boot during use, wherein the soul plate includes a toe end, a heel end, and a middle portion positioned between the toe end and the heel end; a soul grind angle face extending upward from the outer edge of the soul plate at an angle greater than 90° with respect to a plane of the frame; a cess slide face extending upward from an outer edge of the soul grind angle face at an angle greater than 90° with respect to the frame; and a backslide surface extending upward from a top edge of the cess slide face such that a distal edge of the backslide surface is configured to abut the inline skate boot during use.

Counter-rotating fin steering system for board sports
11617937 · 2023-04-04 ·

A steering system for a snowboard includes two binding interface pods, one of which may be active and one of which may be passive. Rotation or tilting of a top plate of the active binding interface pod in response to rotation or tilting of the rider's steering foot causes counter-rotation of a steering fin under the rider's steering foot. The passive binding interface pod is responsive via a linkage between the active and passive binding interface pods to cause rotation of a steering fin under the rider's non-steering foot. Coordinated counter-rotation of the steering fins causes the board to turn in the direction of rotation of the rider's steering foot when the steering fins are unaligned. Optionally, both binding pods may be active in steering, i.e. enabling two footed steering.

SKI CORE AND SKI INCLUDING SUCH A CORE
