The valve element is in fluid communication with the outlet slot and includes an open position and a closed position. In the open position fluid flow travels through the outlet slot. In the closed position fluid flow is prevented through the outlet slot. The latch element is configured to lock the valve element in the closed position. The filtration further comprises a filter cartridge structured to engage the filter head assembly. The filter cartridge comprises a first and second filter end. The filter cartridge comprises filter media and a keyed element disposed on the first filter end. The keyed element is structured for engagement of the latch element, wherein the engagement unlocks the valve element causing the valve element to be in the open position.

The filter for the purification of a liquid of a combustion engine, particularly lubricating oil, includes a housing that has, in a bottom part, an inlet for raw liquid and an outlet for purified liquid, and an unscrewable lid. A cartridge, defined by a filtering insert and a preassembled bypass valve, is received in the housing. The insert has a flange for fixing the valve, covering an end of the filtering medium. The bypass valve can be separated from the cover such that the cartridge can be removed. The valve has a removable connection element that axially engages with a complementary securing component formed on the flange, in a locking configuration obtained by a pivoting action.

A filter system is provided with a housing provided with a cover. The housing has a raw liquid inlet, a clean liquid outlet, and a liquid drain. A filter element is provided that separates a raw side from a clean side. A slide valve with a valve rod and a sealing head is provided, wherein the sealing head is arranged such that the liquid drain of the housing is closable but openable. A coupling is arranged between the sealing head and the valve rod, providing an axial securing action of the valve rod at the sealing head and a radial securing action, separate from the axial securing action, of the valve rod at the sealing head. A slide valve for such a filter system as well as a sealing head and a valve rod for such a slide valve are provided.
