A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A GAS SEPARATION ARTICLE AND USE THEREOF

The present disclosure provides a method for producing a gas separation article, said gas separation article comprising: a gas separation membrane, optionally a support, and optionally an additional support, said method comprising the steps of: a) providing a matrix, said matrix having a viscosity from 1 centipoise to 40000 centipoise, said matrix comprising or consisting of one or more monomers, oligomers and/or polymers, and optionally a solvent, b) contacting the matrix of step a) with a support comprising at least one side, said at least one side facing said matrix, thereby forming (i) a matrix side contacting the support and (ii) a matrix side opposite the side contacting the support, c) optionally contacting the matrix side opposite the side contacting the support with an additional support, d) subjecting said matrix contacted with said support to one or more electric fields that is/are substantially parallel to a plane in which the support extends, or substantially perpendicular to a plane in which the support extends e) fixating the one or more monomers, oligomers and/or polymers of the matrix subjected to one or more electric fields in step d) thereby forming a solid gas separation membrane, and f) optionally removing the support and/or the additional support.

The present disclosure also gas separation article obtainable by the aforementioned method as well as use of said gas separation article for separation of gases in a gas mixture.

According to the invention the input gas containing hydrogen and hydrocarbons is separated in a first hydrogen enrichment stage into a hydrogen-enriched substream and a hydrogen-depleted substream, wherein at least a portion of the hydrogen-enriched substream is supplied to a second hydrogen enrichment stage or introduced into the pure hydrogen product stream and at least a portion of the hydrogen-depleted substream is supplied to the steam reforming stage as a reforming feed stream or as part thereof and/or to the burners as a fuel gas stream.

The plant uses a self-cleaning direct contact heat exchanger to cool the syngas downstream of the reformer and to produce the superheated steam that feeds the gasifier: this heat exchanger allows the production of hydrogen at low costs and in modular plants.

The method includes: (1) hydrogen compressed natural gas is introduced into the pressure energy recovery system; (2) the low-pressure hydrogen compressed natural gas is introduced into the separation system; (3) the low-hydrogen natural gas and the, high concentration hydrogen gas are introduced into a first natural gas buffer tank and a first hydrogen gas buffer tank respectively; (4) the low-hydrogen natural gas and the high concentration hydrogen gas are introduced into the pressure boosting system; (5) the low-hydrogen natural gas and the high concentration hydrogen gas are respectively introduced into a natural gas user end. The method of the present invention is low in energy consumption, so as to realize pressure energy recovery, and energy consumption of hydrogen gas separation is greatly reduced.

Disclosed herein is a method for making hydrogen with carbon sequestration. The method may comprise using a biomass hydroconverter product to fuel a steam reformer that converts a hydrocarbon fuel stream into a gas mixture that contains at least hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The gas stream is separated to form a hydrogen-enriched gas stream and at least one hydrogen-depleted stream. The hydrogen-depleted stream may be stored or further processed to sequester the carbon contained therein. Additionally, or alternatively, the solid residue from the biomass hydroconverter also may be stored for further sequester carbon generated by the method.
