GAS GENERATOR AND FILTER FOR GAS GENERATOR
A gas generator includes a housing, an ignition device, a combustion chamber filled with a gas generating agent, a gas discharge port configured to discharge combustion gas to an outside, and a filter portion disposed between the combustion chamber and the gas discharge port, formed of a metal material, and configured to filter the combustion gas. The filter portion includes a first filter disposed on a side of the combustion chamber and a second filter disposed on a side of the gas discharge port and facing the first filter. The gas generator is provided with a space that is provided between the first filter and the second filter, so as to include a position where the combustion gas flows and to have a predetermined thickness in a direction of flow of the combustion gas, causing a flow rate of the combustion gas flowing into the second filter to decrease due to absence of the metal material.
Inflator filter for an inflatable airbag system
Systems and methods are disclosed for an expanded metal filter for use with an automotive safety device, such an inflatable airbag system. The expanded metal filter is composed of a plurality of expanded metal layers, wherein when a first expanded metal layer is turned over or inverted the peaks of the first expanded metal layer conform to valleys of a second expanded metal layer, and valleys of the first expanded metal layer conform to peaks of the first expanded layer whereby the first and second expanded layers nest together.
Inflator, method of manufacturing the same and module including said inflator
An inflator as well as a method of manufacturing an inflator, a module including an inflator and an airbag module. In an inflator, especially for a protective device in a vehicle, comprising plural components a sealant is applied in the area of abutting components, especially a sealant which adheres to both abutting components.
TORTUOUS PATH FILTER FOR AIRBAG INFLATOR
An airbag assembly may include an airbag and an inflator that provides inflation gas to inflate the airbag. A filter module may be positioned such that inflation gas exiting the inflator must first pass through the filter module. The filter module may be formed of a sheet of metal that is wrapped into a generally spiraling tubular shape. The filter module may have an inner layer, an intermediate layer, and an outer layer. The intermediate layer generally encircles the inner layer, and the outer layer generally encircles the inner layer and the intermediate layer in a spiraling fashion. The inner layer, the intermediate layer, and the outer layer each may have a pattern of holes and dimples that are separate from and/or displaced from each other. The dimples may protrude toward an adjacent layer to maintain spacing to enable relatively unrestricted gas flow from the holes of the inner layer through unaligned holes of the intermediate layer and the outer layer. The resulting tortuous gas flow path may help to slow, cool, and/or purify the gas before it exits the inflator.
CYLINDRICAL FILTER FOR PYROTECHNIC DEVICE, MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR CYLINDRICAL FILTER, AND PYROTECHNIC DEVICE USING CYLINDRICAL FILTER
The present invention provides a cylindrical filter for a pyrotechnic device including a gas generating agent or pressurized gas as a gas generation source. The cylindrical filter includes a first annular end surface, a second annular end surface positioned opposite to the first annular end surface in an axial direction, and a cylindrical wall surface between the first annular end surface and the second annular end surface. At least one of the first annular end surface or the second annular end surface includes a weakened portion. When the first annular end surface includes the weakened portion, the weakened portion includes a first annular wall portion that protrudes from the first annular end surface and has a thickness less than a thickness of the first annular end surface. When the second annular end surface includes the weakened portion, the weakened portion includes a second annular wall portion that protrudes from the second annular end surface and has a thickness less than a thickness of the second annular end surface.
FILTER FOR GAS GENERATOR AND GAS GENERATOR
Provided is a cylindrical filter for a gas generator including a metal wire in a wound state, the metal wire including a plurality of recess portions provided on a first surface side and formed at intervals in a length direction thereof, the metal wire being wound with a surface including the recess portions facing an inner circumferential surface side of the cylindrical filter for a gas generator, and the recess portions of the metal wire being present on an inner side of the metal wire which extends from an inner circumferential surface toward an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical filter.
FILTER DIFFUSER
A diffuser includes a first tube and a second tube. The first tube includes a key and defines a first opening. The second tube is inserted through the first opening. The second tube defines a notch. The key is inserted into the notch.
Inflatable valve filter
A valve filter used for inflatable having infill inside. The valve filter has a filter body to stop the infill from escaping from the inflatable, and a patching sleeve to be attached on the inflatable or air valve of the inflatable.
EXPANDED METAL FILTERS
Expanded metal sheets are used to produce tubular filters. The expanded metal sheet has a multiplicity of rows of openings arranged to reduce nesting when the sheet is rolled on itself. In particular, the pitch between the rows of openings, the sizes of the openings, or both the pitch between the rows of openings and the sizes of the openings are varied to reduce nesting when the expanded metal sheet is rolled on itself. The filters can include external circumferential grooves, rounded corners produced by a point loading process, textured surfaces between openings, and/or torturous internal paths produced by non-perforated areas of an expanded metal sheet. The expanded metal sheet can be composed of carbon steel coated with a material having a higher heat conductivity, e.g., tin. Among other things, the filters can be used in automobile airbag inflators to capture slag and absorb heat produced by the inflator's explosive charge.
