Provided herein are gas permeable membranes comprising an amine-containing selective layer on top of a gas permeable polymer support as well as methods of making and using thereof. The membranes are useful for the separation of CO.sub.2 from N.sub.2-containing gases.
Filtration membrane and methods of use and manufacture thereof
A filtration membrane is provided. It comprises a porous support substrate and a porous active layer on top of the support substrate, wherein the active layer is formed of a network of interconnected, randomly arranged ceramic splats with ceramic particles occupying interstices between the splats, and wherein free spaces between the particles define a network of interconnected pores extending through the thickness of the active layer. There are also provided a method of filtering a feed using the membrane and a method of manufacturing the membrane by suspension plasma spraying.
POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE OF IN-SITU PORE-FORMING AGENT AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention discloses a polyvinylidene fluoride hollow fiber membrane and a preparation method thereof. The hollow fiber membrane comprises 30%-50% of polyvinylidene fluoride resin, 40%-60% of inorganic molecular solution in-situ pore-forming agent and 5%-20% of organic diluent. The preparation method comprises preparing the inorganic molecular solution in-situ pore-forming agent formed from organic sol, mixing the inorganic molecular solution in-situ pore-forming agent formed from the organic sol with high-molecular polymer resin and the organic diluent to obtain a material A,extruding hollow fibers through a forming mold, stretching on line by 2-3 times to obtain hollow fiber filaments, extracting the hollow fiber filaments with an organic solvent to remove all organic matters, removing inorganic matters dispersed in the hollow fiber filaments by using an acid or alkaline solution to form a porous membrane and cleaning the porous membrane, setting and performing heat treatment to obtain the polyvinylidene fluoride hollow fiber membrane.

Composite Nanoparticle Stabilized Core Carbon Molecular Sieve Hollow Fiber Membranes Having Improved Permeance
Disclosed herein are asymmetric multilayer carbon molecular sieve (“CMS”) hollow fiber membranes and processes for preparing the membranes. The processes include simultaneously extruding a core dope containing a polymer and suitable nanoparticles, a sheath dope, and a bore fluid, followed by pyrolysis of the extruded fiber.
Hollow fiber membrane having hexagonal voids
Disclosed is a hollow fiber membrane having hexagonal voids, suitable for use in high throughput filtration applications. Thus, the membrane includes (i) an inner surface; (ii) an outer surface; and (iii) a porous bulk disposed therebetween, wherein the porous bulk comprises at least a first region including: a) a first set of pores having a first controlled pore size and having outer rims; b) a second set of pores connecting the outer rims of the first set of pores, wherein the pore size of the first set of pores is greater than the pore size of the second set of pores; and c) a polymer matrix supporting the first set of pores. Also disclosed is a method for preparing such hollow fiber membranes, which involves coating a filament with a coating composition that includes a membrane-forming polymer and dissolvable nanoparticles, followed by phase invention, and dissolving of the nanoparticles. The filament is removed to obtain the hollow fiber membrane.
HYDROPHOBIC-OLEOPHILIC HOLLOW FIBER COMPOSITE MEMBRANE AND PREPARING METHOD THEREOF
A hydrophobic-oleophilic and hollow fiber composite membrane includes hollow tubular braids and surface separation layers coated on the outer surfaces of the hollow tubular braids. Membrane-forming polymers in the surface separation layers are polyvinylidene fluoride, and all other components are hydrophobic ingredients, including graphene. A preparing method includes preparing hollow tubular braids by two-dimensional braided technique using polyester filaments, wherein the hollow tubular braids are used as the reinforcements. The method further includes mixing polyvinylidene fluoride, hydrophobic pore-forming agent, and the rest of solvent to prepare a casting solution of surface separation layer. The method further includes pre-treatment processing of the reinforcements; and coating the casting solution of surface separation layer on the outer surface of the processed reinforcements through a spinning spinneret to form a primary membrane. The reinforcements are replaced by the primary after post-processing, and repeating the coating process.
MEMBRANE AND POLYMER FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF
The present invention relates to novel co-polymers and their use in the manufacture of porous membranes for haemodialysis application. In particular, such a co-polymer comprises a first segment comprising recurring units poly(aryl ether sulfone) [PAES recurring units], and a second segment comprising-recurring units poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) [PVP recurring units], wherein said first segment and said second segment are linked together via a group of formula —O-Ph-NH—C(═O)—C(CH.sub.3).sub.2—CH.sub.2—.

The present invention provides a carbon membrane for fluid separation with which a high-pressure fluid can be separated and purified and which has excellent pressure resistance and is less apt to be damaged. The present invention relates to a carbon membrane for fluid separation, including: a core layer which has a co-continuous porous structure; and a skin layer which has substantially no co-continuous porous structure and is formed around the core layer.
