An apparatus is disclosed for mixing substances, such as paint. The apparatus includes an elongate member with a plurality of openings formed within it. A filament is threaded through the openings creating bights between openings. The bights and ends of the filament sweep through the substance when the elongate member is rotated, which works to mix the substance.

There is provided apparatus (301) for mixing contents of a receptacle, the apparatus comprising a rotary shaft (302) equipped at a proximal end with a connection for removable attachment to a means of providing rotation. The rotary shaft has a mixing element (303) fixedly connected at a distal end of the shaft opposite to said proximal end. The mixing element comprises at least two arms (304) at the distal most end of the shaft, a corkscrew neck (306) on the shaft and a collar (305) on the shaft positioned in between the at least two arms and the corkscrew neck. The mixing element further comprises a blade (307) positioned across the shaft more proximally than the corkscrew neck.

A mixing system typically for use in a container for mixing its contents, the mixing system including a cap unit, an extension unit and a magnetic mixing unit that is attached to the cap unit by the extension unit. The magnetic mixing unit can be folded to permit insertion and/or removal of the system via a mouth of the container. The extension unit and magnetic mixing unit connect via a hinge formed by upper and lower hinge portions that meet at a pivot point. The hinge portions extend from the pivot point along a first axis. The magnetic mixing unit includes a first magnetic elongate member that extends from the lower hinge portion along a second axis that is substantially perpendicular to the first axis, and a second magnetic elongate member that extends from the lower hinge portion along the second axis in the opposite direction relative to the first elongate member. The magnetic member(s) may be provided by a plastic coated magnetic stir bar.

The foldable agitator according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: a coupling body; impeller arms rotatably coupled to the coupling body; and a piston, inserted in the coupling body so as to be movable vertically, for rotating the impeller arms in the process of moving to induce same to fold and unfold.

A device to supply printing material to a printing material container of a printing apparatus includes a container including a plunger and to contain the printing material, a portal couplable to a refill port to the printing material container. The portal includes a discharge port through which the printing material is transferrable from the container, and a connector to receive power to move the plunger, to cause a transfer of the printing material contained in the container to the printing material container through the discharge port.
