NEW THREE DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURED PACKING FOR IMPROVING THE CONTACT BETWEEN A GAS PHASE AND A DISPERSED SOLID PHASE FOLLOWING IN COUNTER-CURRENT
The present invention describes a packing with a three-dimensional structure which is particularly suited to creating homogenous and anisotropic mixing between the gas phase and a dispersed solid phase moving in counter-current flow. Application of this packing to the stripper of fluidized catalytic cracking units.
Steam reforming
An apparatus for steam reforming of hydrocarbons is described including a steam reformer containing a plurality of externally-heated vertical tubes each tube having an inlet for a feed gas mixture including hydrocarbon and steam, and an outlet for a reformed gas mixture, wherein the tubes contain a particulate steam reforming catalyst adjacent the outlet and a structured steam reforming catalyst adjacent the inlet. A process for steam reforming of hydrocarbons using the apparatus is also described.
Device and method for heat and mass-exchange between gas and liquid
A device for heat, mass, and chemical exchange and interaction between gases and liquids. Nozzles feed the gas at angles in different directions to form a gas-liquid mix, swirls, and/or foam above an array of such nozzles.
Catalyst arrangement
A catalyst arrangement disposed within a vertical reaction tube includes a structured catalyst within an upper part of the reaction tube, a particulate catalyst beneath the structured catalyst in a lower part of the reaction tube, and a catalyst support device located between the structured catalyst and the particulate catalyst, wherein the catalyst support device includes a cylindrical body having a first end adapted for connection to the structured catalyst, and a second end, and the cylindrical body has a diameter 70-90% of the internal diameter of the tube and a length/diameter in the range 0.5-2.5.
Filling body
Filling bodies for the use in unstructured packings. The filling body has a fibre-reinforced carbon flat material. Two strip regions of the carbon flat material, which are separated by a cut, transition into two connecting regions of the carbon flat material.
Countercurrent contacting devices and method of manufacture
The contacting device for countercurrent contacting of fluid streams and having a first pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades and a second pair of intersecting grids of spaced-apart and parallel deflector blades. The deflector blades in each one of the grids are interleaved with the deflector blades in the paired intersecting grid and may have uncut side portions that join them together along a transverse strip where the deflector blades cross each other or adjacent opposed ends of the deflector blades and cut side portions that extend from the uncut side portions to the ends of the deflector blades. At least some of the deflector blades have directional tabs and associated openings to allow portions of the fluid streams to pass through the deflector blades to facilitate mixing of the fluid streams.
Engineered packing for heat exchange and systems and methods constructing the same
An apparatus includes an inlet, an outlet, and a sheet disposed proximate a heat transfer surface, wherein the sheet is oriented in a sheet plane that is displaced from a plane of the heat transfer surface by an angle of at least 10 degrees. The apparatus also includes a plurality of tabs attached to the sheet, the tabs lying in respective tab planes, wherein the tab planes and the sheet plane intersect forming respective intersections. The intersections of the tab planes and the sheet plane are substantially parallel. The intersections of the tab planes and the sheet plane are at an angle of less than 88 to the heat transfer surface, and the plurality of tabs collectively form channels directing a fluid passing from the inlet to the outlet to impinge the heat transfer surface.
