MIXTURE OF FATTY ACIDS AND ALKYLETHER PHOSPHATES AS A COLLECTOR FOR PHOSPHATE ORE FLOTATION
The present invention relates to a collector composition for the beneficiation of phosphates from phosphate-containing mineral, their use in flotation processes and to a method for the beneficiation of phosphates using said collector composition.
Enhanced foam fractionation of oil phase from aqueous/oil mixed phase via increased viscoelasticity
The present invention provides improved methods for purifying and/or removing oily particles, and/or contaminants suspended or dissolved in water. In particular the process relates to an additive composition that has the appropriate surfactant characteristics for effectively removing an oil phase from an oil/aqueous mixed phase via foam fractionation. According to the invention, a hydrophobically modified polymer that acts as an associative thickener is combined with surfactant in appropriate ratios to facilitate oil removal for water purification in any of a number of commercial, environmental and industrial applications.
PROCESS FOR SEPARATING MIXTURES OF SOLIDS
The invention pertains to a process for separating mixtures of solids based on their densities. The present invention also relates to the use of a separating liquid (L) for separating plastic solids from metal-containing solids based on their densities, wherein the separating liquid (L) has a density d3 such that 1.5<d3<2.0; wherein the solids have a particle size ranging from 0.1 to 100 mm. The separating liquid (L) is preferably a fluorinated fluid.
FROTHING AGENT FOR FLOTATION OF ORES
Described herein are methods for flotation of an ore. The methods include providing an aqueous suspension having an ore in the form of particles, water, and a first frothing agent including a poly(tetrahydrofuran), in a flotation cell to obtain a provided aqueous suspension. The method further includes introducing air into the provided aqueous suspension to obtain a froth. Further described herein are specific aqueous suspensions having ore particles and poly(tetrahydrofuran) and uses of poly(tetrahydrofuran) as a frothing agent for an aqueous suspension having an ore in the form of particles.
COMPOSITION COMPRISING NON-IONIC SURFACTANT AND POLYETHER-MODIFIED SILOXANE AND ITS USE IN CYANIDE-LEACHING OF METAL ORES
A lixiviant medium for extracting gold from a gold-containing solid material contains a polyether-modified siloxane and a non-ionic surfactant. The lixiviant medium can be used in a method of extracting gold from a gold-containing solid material. The lixiviant medium can be prepared from a composition containing a non-ionic surfactant and a polyether-modified siloxane. A method of preparing the lixiviant medium involves mixing the composition with an alkali metal cyanide, a pH regulator suitable for setting a pH of the composition to a value of 9 or higher, and water.
METHOD FOR CONDITIONING AND PROCESSING WHOLE OR THIN STILLAGE TO AID IN THE SEPARATION AND RECOVERY OF PROTEIN AND OIL FRACTIONS
A method of processing thin stillage in an ethanol refining operation is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises treating stillage with an inverse emulsion comprising at least one anionic flocculant and an emulsifying agent selected from a sorbitan ester of a fatty acid, an ethoxylated sorbitan ester of a fatty acid, and combinations thereof, thereby forming treated stillage; clarifying the treated stillage via at least one of dissolved air flotation and induced air flotation, thereby forming clarified thin stillage and a float layer comprising oil and solids; separating the oil from the solids of the float layer; and recovering the oil.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR PROCESSING SULFIDE ORES
Described herein are methods of reducing the viscosity of products of sulfide ore froth flotation. A froth overflow, or an underflow of sulfide ore flotation is treated using a nonionic compound to reduce the viscosity of a froth or an underflow. The lowered viscosity imparts several benefits in sulfide ore processing of copper and molybdenum metal products, including increased rate of sedimentation to yield a concentrated product.
