The invention relates to a biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BOPP) comprising layers (A) to (D), wherein layers (B) to (D) contain biaxially oriented polypropylene and layer (A) contains polyurethane and nanoparticles and has a layer thickness of 25 to 300 nm, layer (B) contains polymers with functional groups that are capable of forming covalent bonds with polyurethane and is directly connected to layer (A), layer (C) has at least a layer thickness of 50% of the total thickness of the film, and layer (D) represents an outer layer of the film containing an anti-blocking agent. The invention also relates to a method for producing films of this type.

A gluing system for applying glue on products is disclosed. The gluing system includes a glue applicator configured to deposit melted glue on products, a glue container configured to contain excess melted glue discharged from the applicator and fresh melted glue, a glue delivering unit configured to deliver glue from the container to the applicator and a glue discharging unit configured to convey excess glue not used by the applicator to the container. The container is divided by a partition into a first chamber, containing the fresh melted glue, and into a second chamber containing the excess melted glue and separated from the first chamber. The partition includes a filter allowing flow of the fresh melted glue and the excess melted glue from both the first and second chambers to the delivering unit.

A gluing station for applying glue to product elements guided in a product stream is intended to permit continuation of the production process and gluing of the product elements in a particularly simple and reliable manner even after a temporary machine stop or production standstill. For this purpose, according to the invention, a moistening system is assigned to a glue application roller that can roll on the product stream. During operation of the gluing station, in the event of a stopped product stream, the glue application roller is pivoted away from the product stream and the transfer roller for the duration of the standstill and is kept rotating, whereby the surface of the glue application roller is moistened.

According to one embodiment, a coating head includes a coating bar, nozzles, a first member, second members, third members, elastic members, and a position controller. The coating bar faces a coating member. The nozzles supply a liquid toward the coating bar. The first member includes first recesses. A portion of the nozzles is between the first recesses and the third members. The portion of the nozzles and the third members are fixed to the first member by the second members. The elastic members are located in at least first, second, or third positions. The first position is between the third members and the second members. The second position is between the portion of the first recesses and the nozzles. The third position is between the portion of the nozzles and the third members. The position controller controls a relative position between the coating bar and the nozzles.

Prelubricated stock sheet and method and system for making the same

A pre-lubricated stock sheet and a method and system for making the same are described. The pre-lubricated stock is generally in a coil wound form. The stock sheet can have opposing first and second sheet surfaces joined together by opposing side edges and opposing ends. Typically, the first and second sheet surfaces are substantially smooth and planar, wherein the sheet has 3 mg/foot.sup.2/side to about 200 mg/foot.sup.2/side of a solid lubricant having a melting temperature from about 80 to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Moreover, the opposing side edges usually are substantially free of the solid lubricant. In some configurations, the stock sheet is an aluminum stock sheet, more particularly an aluminum can stock sheet. Furthermore, the lubricant can be in some configurations a food grade lubricant, that is qualifies a low volatile organic compound under one or more of municipal, state and federal governing authorities.

One example implementation includes an apparatus to selectively lift a part of a substrate away from a transfer member when the substrate is advancing in a substrate coating system relative to the transfer member, such that, across a width of the substrate, a first part of the substrate is coated by the transfer member and a second part of the substrate, that is lifted by the apparatus, remains uncoated.
