Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to a spreading unit, having a shaper, for spreading viscous material, in particular sealing material, on a component, wherein the shaper has a shaping contour for the forming of the viscous material in the course of the spreading. It is proposed that the shaping contour of the shaper for the forming of the viscous material is adjustable by actuator-based means.

The disclosure relates to a spreading unit having a shaper for spreading viscous material, in particular sealing material, on a component, wherein the shaper has a first shaping contour for shaping the viscous material in the process of the spreading, wherein at least a second shaping contour of the shaper for shaping the viscous material can be brought by means of an actuator, in a direction of spreading, into superimposition with the first shaping contour, so that a shape of the shaper is adjustable during an application process.

A coating film forming method includes holding a substrate by a substrate holder; forming an air flow on a front surface of the substrate; supplying a coating liquid configured to form a coating film on the front surface; forming, after moving a covering member from a first position to a second position relatively to the substrate, the air flow in a gap formed by the covering member placed at the second position and the front surface of the substrate being rotated at a first rotation number such that a flow velocity of the air flow becomes larger than that of the air flow obtained when the covering member is placed at the first position; and rotating the substrate at a second rotation number higher than the first rotation number to adjust a film thickness distribution of the coating film by scattering the coating liquid from a peripheral portion thereof.

COATING APPARATUS
A coating apparatus includes an open/close valve having a motor that allows control of opening operation and closing operation in accordance with electric signals applied from a controller. The coating apparatus further includes a suck back valve having a motor that allows control of a volume variation in a flow path for suck back that is in communication with an upstream side and a downstream side of a pipe in accordance with electric signals. The controller allows control of start of the closing operation of the open/close valve and start of suction operation of the suck back valve through application of the electric signals to the motors, respectively. This achieves simple adjustment of liquid cut-off.
Method and apparatus for applying an elastic material to a moving substrate in a curved path
Aspects of the methods and apparatuses relate to making elastic laminates, and more particularly, methods and apparatuses for applying elastic material in a curved path onto an advancing substrate. The elastic material may be in various forms, such as for example, elastic strands and/or ribbons. Apparatuses and methods disclosed herein may also provide for the application of viscous fluids, such as adhesives, in pre-determined patterns to the elastic material while being positioned on an advancing substrate.

A sealant smoothing tool for smoothing sealant in a gap between two aircraft parts is disclosed including a main body having a base surface for abutting sliding along a top surface of the aircraft parts, a spatula holder for holding a spatula, the spatula holder being configured to movably mount the spatula relative to the main body, and a resilient biasing member, configured to provide a biasing against the spatula or the spatula holder, such that the spatula supplies a biasing force to the sealant. An aircraft having two parts sealed by the sealant smoothing tool, a kit of parts including a sealant smoothing tool and one or more spatulas, and a method of smoothing sealant to seal a gap between two aircraft parts are also disclosed.
DRUM COATER FOR APPLYING A SURFACE LAYER ON BULK-LIKE MATERIALS AND MIXING TOOL TO BE USED IN A DRUM COATER
A drum coater for applying a surface layer on bulk-like materials includes a rotatably mounted drum for accommodating bulk-like materials, inlet and outlet openings, at least one spray nozzle for applying the surface material, a drying device for a drum interior, at least first and second radially-offset mixing tools in the drum, the first mixing tool protruding into the drum interior. The at least one second mixing tool has at least one mixing surface such that the first mixing tool is at least partially arranged on the drum inner surface and the at least one second mixing tool has at least one opening on the at least one mixing surface. A mixing tool to be used in a drum coater to gently blend and/or homogenize bulk-like materials has a first mixing surface angled relative to a second mixing surface, at least one mixing surface having at least one opening.
A DEPOSITING APPARATUS
A depositing apparatus for depositing a filler substance, the apparatus including: a housing including a filler inlet and a filler outlet; a rotor member configured to rotate within the housing, the rotor member including at least one passage extending therethrough, between at least two passage openings, such that rotation of the rotor member moves at least one of the at least two passage openings into and out of alignment with the filler inlet and filler outlet; and a piston member positioned within the at least one passage that moves with rotation of the rotor member.
FLOOR COVERING WITH UNIVERSAL BACKING AND METHODS OF MAKING AND RECYCLING
A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile having stitches and a reinforcement layer operatively connected to the stitches to provide dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. The reinforcement layer is made of fibers that are initially contained within a composition of adhesive and fibers. Mixing of the adhesive/fibers composition and/or injection of compressed air, assists in preparing the adhesive and fiber composition to be in the preferred condition and position prior to the forming of the reinforcement layer. Multiple sources of pressure, including vacuum, are applied in a controlled manner for moving the adhesive and fiber composition to form a reinforcement layer of fibers that is operatively connected to the stitches and/or to form a layer of fibers and adhesive that is contained within the stitches. The universal floor covering is selectively cut and transported in a roll for installation, and it can be conveniently recycled if necessary.
