An apparatus for coating or mixing of loose items is provided. The apparatus includes a rotatable bowl shaped to contain a quantity of loose items for coating or mixing as the bowl is rotated. The rotatable bowl includes a plurality of discharge openings. A drive shaft is configured to rotatably support the bowl. A closure ring is positioned to close the discharge openings. The closure ring is retractable while the rotatable bowl is rotating to allow coated or mixed items to fall through the openings to unload the coated items from the rotatable bowl after coating/mixing is complete.

The enclosure (2) starting with the combustion section (5) and continuing with a drying section (6), and then with a mixing section (7). The device is further provided with a bypass outlet (11) and with an external mixer (12) that is connected to the bypass outlet (11), which outlet is fitted with a blocking system (15) allowing granular materials to pass towards the inlet (13) of the external mixer (12) and a closed position allowing granular materials to pass towards the mixing section (7).

An adjustable breading machine for applying a coating material onto a food product, the machine includes a frame and a breading chamber enclosure through which the food product travels along the food path to receive a coating material. The adjustable breading machine may also include a hopper fixedly connected to the frame to deliver a coating material into the breading chamber enclosure. At least partially within the breading chamber enclosure is a main conveyor and an outfeed conveyor. In a first mode of operation, the outfeed conveyor lies in the food path and receives food product from the main conveyor. The adjustable breading machine includes a drum assembly operatively disposed above the outfeed conveyor having a rotatable drum for transporting food product and coating material to the outfeed conveyor. The adjustable breading machine also includes a drum adjustment assembly for moving the drum assembly between modes of operation.
