Method for producing a sealed folded connection

Systems and methods produce or provide a folded connection, sealed by means of an adhesive composition, between a first sheetlike element and a second sheetlike element. The systems and methods bond a second flange of the second sheetlike element with at least one layer of an adhesive composition to a first flange of the first sheetlike element, in such a way that an end of the second flange of the second sheetlike element is indented by a distance relative to an end of the first flange of the first sheetlike element. The systems and methods bead the first flange of the first sheetlike element around the second flange of the second sheetlike element and, after the beading, an adhesive-composition part is placed around an edge of the first flange of the first sheetlike element and bonded to a second surface of the first flange of the first sheetlike element.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FOLDED STRUCTURE WITH ADDITIVE FEATURES
20220016834 · 2022-01-20 · ·

A method of manufacturing a multi-sided or otherwise relatively three-dimensional formed structure for, e.g., an aerospace vehicle. A relatively planar base structure is constructed using a first construction technique. Features (e.g., ribs) are incorporated into the base structure using a second construction technique (e.g., additive or subtractive manufacturing) to create an intermediate structure. The intermediate structure is folded along fold-lines or otherwise physically formed to create the formed structure, such that some of the features are located within an internal space defined by the formed structure. Joints between the sides of the formed structure are welded, fastened, or otherwise secured. Separately constructed additional elements (e.g., bulkheads) may be incorporated into the structure. A closeout element may be added to the formed structure to further define and close the internal space. Throughout the process, the structures, features, and elements may be refined to desired tolerances.

Methods produce a folded connection, sealed by means of an adhesive composition and by means of first and second sheetlike elements, wherein a flange of the first sheetlike element, having a first surface (11) and a second surface (12), is taken back over a flange of the second sheetlike element. The methods apply at least one layer of an adhesive composition to the flange of the first sheetlike element, bead the flange of the first sheetlike element around the flange of the second sheetlike element, and apply the adhesive composition to both the first and second surfaces of the flange of the first sheetlike element.

The disclosure relates to a method for producing a overlapping connection, in which at least two overlapping components are connected to one another via a folded flange, with a first edge of a first component being folded over a second edge of a second component to form the folded flange, along with a body component that includes such an overlapping connection for a vehicle and a stamping tool for such a body component. According to the disclosure at least one connection region is formed on the folded flange, in which the stamping tool stamps the first component through the second component at least one stamping point, with displaced material of the first component passing into the second component and producing a positive connection.

Motor vehicle

A motor vehicle includes a tailgate which has an inner panel, a reinforcing component and an outer panel. The inner component or the outer component is flanged on an end portion, forming a cavity or intermediate space. An adhesive is placed in the intermediate space. An end portion of the non-flanged component is arranged in the intermediate space. An intermediate space is formed between an inner surface of the inner component and an inner surface of the outer component and is filled with adhesive. The end portion of the middle component present in each case is arranged in the intermediate space.

Hemming structure for hybrid-type door

Disclosed is a structure for a hybrid-type door, which is capable of preventing deformation caused by difference in thermal expansion coefficient between an outer panel of aluminum alloy and an inner panel of iron steel. The structure for a hybrid-type door may include an inner panel and an outer panel made of different material from the inner panel. In particular, an end portion of the inner panel may be hemmed by an end portion of the outer panel with the end portions of the inner panel and the outer panel being brought into contact with each other. A sealer may be applied to a contact area at which the inner panel and the outer panel are brought into contact with each other, and the sealer may include a first sealer that may be curable at a room temperature, and a second sealer that may be curable at a temperature greater than a curing temperature of the first sealer.
