METHODS FOR REPAIRING FILM HOLES IN A SURFACE
Methods for repairing an airfoil having a damaged region are provided. The method can include removing the damaged portion from the airfoil to form an intermediate component. The damaged portion generally includes an original film hole having an original cross-sectional geometry. Using additive manufacturing, a replacement portion is then applied on the intermediate component to form a repaired component with the replacement portion including a rebuilt film hole having a rebuilt cross-sectional geometry that is different than the original cross-sectional geometry.
Method of making a capsule for hot isostatic pressing
A method of making a capsule 2 for hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) comprises: (i) selecting a first sheet of metal; (ii) subjecting the first sheet to a forming process, for example die forming, thereby to define a first member 4a of the capsule; (iii) securing said first member to one or more other members thereby to define at least part of a capsule for HIPing.
Outer cooling loop
The present invention relates to an arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing and in particular by hot isostatic pressing. The pressing arrangement includes a pressure vessel and a furnace chamber adapted to hold articles, which furnace chamber is provided inside the pressure vessel. At least one guiding passage communicating with the furnace chamber forms an outer cooling loop, wherein the pressure medium in a part of the outer cooling loop is guided in proximity to pressure vessel walls and the top end closure before it re-enters into the furnace chamber. Further, a guiding channel element is located in the at least one guiding passage forming the outer cooling loop is arranged with at least one pressure medium channel for guiding the pressure medium from a central opening of the heat insulated casing radially and circumferentially towards a lateral wall of the pressure cylinder. The at least one pressure medium channel has a substantially constant cross-sectional area in a flow direction of the pressure medium.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A COMPONENT OF A TURBOMACHINE, COMPONENT OF TURBOMACHINE AND TURBOMACHINE
A method of manufacturing a component of a turbomachine by powder metal hot isostatic pressing is disclosed, which uses a container defining outside surfaces of the component. A metal insert is located inside the container before filling the container with metal powder, and the insert is left in the component after the end of its manufacturing. In an embodiment, a metal core is located inside the container before filling the container with metal powder, and the core is removed from the component before the end of its manufacturing. In this way, net shape surfaces may be obtained without manufacturing trials.
Pressure vessel and method for cooling a pressure vessel
The present invention relates to an arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing and preferably by hot isostatic pressing. In particular, the present invention relates to such an arrangement capable of obtaining a rapid rate without the need of special purpose valves for the cooling. A furnace chamber is provided inside the pressure vessel of the arrangement and a heat insulated casing arranged to surround the furnace chamber. A bottom insulating portion is arranged beneath the furnace chamber. Further, a fan having a controllable number of revolutions for circulating the pressure medium within the furnace chamber is arranged in the pressure vessel, and preferable within the furnace chamber. At least one feeding passage is arranged to allow feeding of pressure medium from a region being colder than a region within the furnace chamber towards an inlet of the fan, wherein an amount of pressure medium being fed to the inlet of the fan can be controlled by adjusting operational parameters of the fan.
Powder hot isostatic pressing
A method of manufacturing a part, the method involving providing an apparatus, the apparatus having a metal skin component; a metal HIP can and a hollow space between a portion of the HIP can and a portion of the skin component, the method further involving filling the HIP can with a metal powder; evacuating the HIP can; sealing the evacuated HIP can; and applying a HIP process to the apparatus in a HIP chamber so as to form the part.

Multi-block sputtering target and associated methods and articles
A sputtering target that includes at least two consolidated blocks, each block including an alloy including molybdenum in an amount greater than about 30 percent by weight and at least one additional alloying ingredient; and a joint between the at least two consolidated blocks, the joint being free of any microstructure due to an added bonding agent (e.g., powder, foil or otherwise), and being essentially free of any visible joint line the target that is greater than about 200 μm width (e.g., less than about 50 μm width). A process for making the target includes hot isostatically pressing, below a temperature of 1080° C., consolidated perform blocks that may be surface prepared (e.g., roughened to a predetermined roughness value) prior to pressing.
A PRESS APPARATUS
A press apparatus includes a pressure vessel arranged to hold pressure medium therein during use of the press apparatus. The pressure vessel includes a top end closure and a bottom end closure. A furnace chamber is arranged within the pressure vessel so that pressure medium can enter and exit the furnace chamber, the furnace chamber at least in part defining a treatment space arranged to accommodate at least one article. The press apparatus includes at least one outer convection loop pressure medium guiding passage in fluid communication with the furnace chamber and arranged to form an outer convection loop within the pressure vessel. The outer convection loop is arranged to guide the pressure medium after having exited the furnace chamber in proximity to an inner surface of one or more wall(s) of the pressure vessel to a space between the furnace chamber and the bottom end closure.
Method for promoting densification of metal body by utilizing metal expansion induced by hydrogen absorption
Provided is a method for promoting densification of a metal body by utilizing metal expansion induced by hydrogen absorption. The hydrogen absorption expansion refers to a volume expansion effect produced by absorbing hydrogen on some metal blocks or metal powder in a hydrogen atmosphere under certain temperature conditions. Hydrogen is introduced into a rigid closed mold filled with a hydrogen absorption expansion material or filled with the hydrogen absorption expansion material and a material to be densified, and the mold and/or the material to be densified are/is densified by using the volume expansion effect of the hydrogen absorption expansion material. The present method may be used for eliminating residual pores from a metal material so as to improve the properties of the material.
