CUTTING TOOL PART HAVING AN ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED CUTTING PORTION WITH INTEGRALLY FORMED GUIDE PADS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
A cutting tool part includes a cutting portion. The cutting tool part further includes a plurality of guide pads projecting radially outwards from the cutting portion. At least the cutting portion and the plurality of guide pads are made through additive manufacturing, the plurality of guide pads being integrally formed with the cutting portion in a unitary one-piece construction. A rotary cutting tool is provided having a cutting insert releasably attached to the cutting tool part.
ROTATABLE CUTTING HEAD HAVING TIP PORTION WITH THREE RADIALLY EXTENDING CUTTING EDGES FORMING A RECTILINEAR ROTATIONAL PROFILE
A cutting head rotatable about a central axis, comprising a tip portion and an intermediate portion. The tip portion has an axially forwardmost tip point contained in the central axis and three axially forward facing front surfaces forming three chisel edges extending axially rearwardly away from the tip point, each front surface having a radially extending cutting edge comprising a secondary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly from one of the chisel edges, and a primary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly therefrom. Each primary cutting-edge portion is contained in an imaginary annular ring surface having an annular ring width spanning at least radially inner and outer end points thereof. In a front-end view of the cutting head, each primary cutting-edge portion is concave, and radial planes intersect the imaginary annular surface to form imaginary rectilinear lines, each having a length equal to the annular ring width.
Side-activated modular drill
A rotary cutting tool with a shank and an interchangeable cutting tip, wherein the shank includes a pocket which receives the interchangeable cutting tip via an interference fit. The pocket includes two centering wall portions which, when viewed along a central longitudinal axis, are oriented at a first angle with respect to one another, the first angle being greater than zero. The interchangeable cutting tip is axially displaceable between: an initial position, assumed upon being received in the pocket of the shank; a clamped position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is fixedly held with respect to the shank; and a bump-off position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is not fixedly held. A holding element holds the interchangeable cutting tip in the clamped position, and a bump-off element displaces the interchangeable cutting tip between the clamped position and the bump-off position. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.
Cutting tool with indicator substance
The invention relates to a cutting tool having at least one cavity arranged in the cutting tool, spaced apart from an outer contour of the cutting tool by a wear layer, wherein a thickness of the wear layer corresponds to a wear limit of the cutting tool, wherein an indicator substance is arranged in the cavity.
Rotary drill tool with insert centring surfaces
A cutting insert for a rotary drill tool and a drill tool assembly in which an insert and a support body are coupled via cooperative contact surfaces and a mounting screw. The contact surfaces provide a dual function to axially and rotationally lock the insert at the support body in addition to providing a centring function of the insert.
Rotary cutting tool and cutting tool parts
The invention describes a rotary cutting tool, in particular a drill, which comprises a first cutting tool part having at least one cutting edge and a second cutting tool part which comprises a cutting tool shank. The first cutting tool part and the second cutting tool part are releasably connected to one another via a coupling mechanism which comprises a coupling cam that is mounted on one of the two cutting tool parts such that it can rotate about an axis of rotation and, in a coupling position, abuts an engagement surface on the other cutting tool part. The invention also presents a cutting tool part, in particular a cutting tool base, and a further cutting tool part, in particular a cutting tip.
CUTTING PLATE AND METHOD AND COMPRESSION MOLD FOR PRODUCING A GREEN BODY OF THE CUTTING PLATE
A compression tool, a cutting plate and a method of producing a cutting plate by multiaxial pressing a powder mixture of a hard metal component and a binder to form a green body is provided. After pressing, the body has two parallel main surfaces and a peripheral edge surface extending between and connecting the main surfaces. The main surfaces include depressions, such that cutting edges are formed at the intersection of the bottom of the depressions and at least a part of the edge surface. A heading tool includes a main punch and an independently moveable form punch. In a first pressing step, the form punch is moved towards the powder mixture to form a preliminarily compressed portion. In a second step, the main punch and the form punch are both moved towards a final position to provide the green body with its final dimensions including the depressions.
CUTTING INSERT, ROTARY TOOL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT
A rotary tool according to an aspect includes a body, a flank face positioned at a side of a tip end of the body, a flute extending from the flank face toward a rear end of the body, and a ridge line positioned at an intersection of the flank face and the flute. The ridge line includes a recessed portion recessed toward the rear end of the body, an inner edge extending from the recessed portion toward the tip end of the body, and an outer edge extending from the recessed portion toward an outer periphery of the body. The flute includes a recessed groove extending along the outer edge. The recessed groove is connected to the recessed portion and the outer edge, and is separated from the inner edge.
Cutting head having four cutting portions and two convex clamping surfaces, and rotary cutting tool
A cutting head rotatable about a head axis has a cap portion and a rigid mounting protuberance joined to the cap portion. The cap portion has exactly four cutting portions circumferentially alternating with four head flutes and a head base surface facing in an axially rearward direction. The mounting protuberance extends axially rearwardly from the head base surface and has exactly two circumferentially spaced apart convex clamping surfaces. In a cross-section taken in a first horizontal plane perpendicular to the head axis and intersecting the mounting protuberance, only the two clamping surfaces are circumscribed by an imaginary first circle having a first diameter and a center coincident with the head axis. A rotary cutting tool has an elongated tool shank with a head receiving pocket at a forward end thereof and the cutting head of the type described above releasably secured to the head receiving pocket.
Cutting tool and method for manufacturing machined product
A drill may be extended from a first end to a second end and may include a cutting part. The cutting part may include a cutting edge, a flute, an end surface and a connection surface. The flute may be extended from the cutting edge toward the second end. The end surface may be located closer to the second end than the flute. The connection surface may be located between the flute and the end surface. The connection surface may include a first portion, and a second portion located closer to an outer periphery of the cutting part than the first portion. A length in the direction along the rotation axis on the second portion may be smaller than a length in the direction along the rotation axis on the first portion in a side view orthogonal to the rotation axis.
