A milling tool body is rotatable around a central rotation axis and includes a front end surface and a rear end surface. An envelope surface surrounds the axis and extends between the rear end surface and the front end surface. A plurality of insert pockets are formed in a transition between the envelope surface and the front end surface. A first central through-hole of constant diameter extends between the rear end surface and the front surface. The locking disc has a second central through-hole and a fastening device is arranged to extend through the second central through-hole. The locking disc is arranged to press against the front end surface of the milling tool body when mounting the milling tool body to an adaptor by the fastening device. The fastening device is mountable to an end of the adaptor insertable into the first central through-hole.

CUTTING TOOL, TOOL SYSTEM AND CUTTING INFORMATION TRANSMISSION METHOD

A cutting tool includes a shaft portion. The shaft portion includes an increased-diameter portion having a diameter larger than a diameter of other portion of the shaft portion. The increased-diameter portion has a recessed portion formed in a peripheral surface of the increased-diameter portion.

Tool body of cutting tool for indexable inserts, and round milling insert
11638961 · 2023-05-02 · ·

A cutting tool body for indexable inserts, and a round milling insert, are configured not to cause floating or rattling upon mounting the milling insert. The tool body includes a recessed portion for fitting one of a plurality of protrusions thereto, the protrusions being formed in the milling insert to protrude in the radial direction. The recessed portion has two inner surfaces having curved portions disposed so the distance between them gradually decreases at the contact area between the recessed portion and the protrusion fitted thereto. The milling insert includes protrusions protruding radially, any of which fit into a recessed portion on a mounting seat of the tool body. The protrusions each have two curved outer surfaces arranged so the distance between them gradually decreases toward a tip of the protrusion, at the contact area between the protrusion and the recessed portion into which the protrusion is fitted.

Cutting tool for face milling composite material, corresponding method of face milling, cutting insert and tool body

A cutting tool for face milling includes insert pockets for the fixing of cutting insert. The cutting inserts can be fixed in the insert pockets, wherein the cutting inserts and insert pockets are designed such that, when the cutting inserts are fixed within the corresponding insert pocket, each cutting insert presents: a primary and a secondary cutting edge. The intersection between the primary and the secondary cutting edge of one cutting insert being axially inwardly and radially outwardly offset from the intersection between the primary and the secondary cutting edge of another cutting insert. A lead angle defined between the primary and the secondary cutting edges is less than 30°.

INSERT HOLDER HAVING WEIGHT-REDUCING VOIDS AND CUTTING TOOL

An insert holder includes a cutting portion and a shank portion. The insert holder further includes a cavity which includes a cavity chamber and a plurality of cavity through recesses which serve to reduce the weight of the insert holder. The plurality of cavity through recesses open out to the cavity chamber and to the periphery of the shank portion. A cutting tool is provided having a cutting insert releasably attached to the insert holder.

Rotary cutting tool with high-pressure, threaded coolant cap

A rotary cutting tool includes a cutter body and a coolant cap removably secured to the cutter body. The coolant cap includes an outer surface, an inner surface and a generally cylindrical outer surface extending between the outer surface and the inner surface. The cylindrical outer surface has a second cylindrical outer surface portion with external threads formed thereon such that the coolant cap is capable of being threaded onto the cutter body.

Cutting tool with interconnected arms for increased stiffness to weight ratio
11504784 · 2022-11-22 · ·

A cutting tool with interconnected arms that increases the stiffness to weight ratio of the cutting tool is described. The principles of the invention can be applied to any cutting tool, such as a reamer, a milling cutter, a slotting cutter, and the like. In one example, a cutting ring includes a cutting head assembly with a leading arm, a trailing arm, and a cutting head supported by the leading arm and the trailing arm. The trailing arm interconnects with the leading arm of an adjacent cutting head assembly, and the leading arm interconnects with a trailing arm of another adjacent cutting head assembly. As a result of this interconnection of arms, the axial, radial and tangential stiffness to weight ratio of the cutting tool is increased. A support member may be included to further increase the stiffness to weight ratio.
