Method of resistively welding parts and parts made thereby
A method of securing a first component part and a second component part together, the method comprising providing an electrically conductive member between a first surface of the first component part and a facing first surface of the second component part and securing the first and second components together by passing a current through the electrically conductive member. The electrically conductive member is distributed across at least 50% of the surface area of the first surface of the first component part.

BONDING SYSTEM FOR DUAL WALLED TURBINE COMPONENTS
A system is for bonding a cover sheet to a core to form or repair a dual wall structure. The system includes a cover sheet probe and an inner pedestal probe. A three dimensional contoured tip of the cover sheet probe abuts against a three dimensional contoured outer surface of the cover sheet opposite a pedestal of the core. The pedestal abuts the inner surface of the cover sheet. The inner pedestal probe may be coupled to the core to create a conductive electrical path from the cover sheet probe through at least part of the structure. A flow of electric power is controlled and supplied to the cover sheet probe to heat a junction between the area of the cover sheet abutting the pedestal and the pedestal. A heated area is created in the junction and fixedly couples the coversheet and the pedestal.
METHOD OF WELDING A NICKEL STRENGTH LUG WITH A BRONZE CONNECTING PIN AND A BRASS CONTACT RING IN AN ACCELEROMETER SENSOR
The present invention consists in a method of welding a nickel strength lug with a bronze connecting pin and a brass contact ring in an accelerometer sensor, the strength lug being interleaved between the connecting pin and the contact ring, the welding being effected electrically with the strength lug pressed simultaneously against the connecting pin and the contact ring. Before welding, the strength lug undergoes deformation of its external surface at least on each of two portions of the surface respectively facing the connecting pin and the contact ring, the surface deformation creating on each of the portions asperities intended to come into local contact with the connecting pin and the contact ring, respectively.

ELECTROSTATIC ENERGY STORAGE WELDING MACHINE
An electrostatic energy storage welding machine for performing resistance welding while applying pressure to an object to be welded includes: a pair of welding electrodes; an energy storage section including a plurality of energy storage parts; an individual charge circuit for individually charging respective energy storage parts; an individual discharge circuit for individually discharging the respective energy storage parts; a voltage monitor circuit individually monitoring voltages of the respective energy storage parts; an individual voltage stabilization control section for performing control to further charge an energy storage part having deviation in performance in an individual manner to stabilize a voltage of that energy storage part and thereby achieve a set voltage; and an output circuit for outputting power produced by the set voltage stabilized through individual charging and electric current through individual discharging in the energy storage section to apply the electric current between the welding electrodes.
CONTROL OF INTERMETALLIC COMPOUND GROWTH IN ALUMINUM TO STEEL RESISTANCE WELDING
A method of resistance spot welding a workpiece stack-up that includes an aluminum workpiece and an overlapping adjacent steel workpiece so as to minimize the thickness of an intermetallic layer comprising Fe—Al intermetallic compounds involves providing reaction-slowing elements at the faying interface of the aluminum and steel workpieces. The reaction-slowing elements may include at least one of carbon, copper, silicon, nickel, manganese, cobalt, or chromium. Various ways are available for making the one or more reaction-slowing elements available at the faying interface of the aluminum and steel workpieces including being dissolved in a high strength steel or being present in an interlayer that may take on a variety of forms including a rigid shim, a flexible foil, a deposited layer adhered to and metallurgically bonded with a faying surface of the steel workpiece, or an interadjacent organic material layer that includes particles containing the reaction-slowing elements.
AL-STEEL WELD JOINT
A weld joint is disclosed that weld bonds together an aluminum workpiece and a steel workpiece. The weld joint includes an aluminum weld nugget, an intermetallic layer, and an annular ring of aluminide particles that is selected from the group consisting of nickel aluminide particles, iron aluminide particles, and a combination thereof. The annular ring of aluminide particles extends upwards from a weld bond surface of the weld joint such that the annular ring of aluminide particles extends radially inwardly into the aluminum weld nugget and protects the weld bond surface of the weld joint against crack propagation that may originate from a notch root of the weld joint.
WELDING ELECTRODE DESIGN FOR EXPELLING ORGANIC MATERIAL IN WELD BONDING
A radially slotted welding electrode is disclosed that may be used in conjunction with a companion second welding electrode to conduct resistance spot welding on a workpiece stack-up assembly that includes a steel workpiece and an overlapping adjacent aluminum workpiece, especially when an intermediate organic material layer is disposed between the workpiece faying surfaces of the steel and aluminum workpieces. The radially slotted welding electrode includes a weld face that has a central upstanding plateau and a convex dome portion that surrounds the central upstanding plateau and which includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced trapezoidal weld face sections that include transverse upstanding arcuate ridges. Together, the central upstanding plateau and the trapezoidal weld face sections of the convex dome portion define an annular channel that surrounds the central plateau and a plurality of radial slots that communicate with and extend outwards from the central channel.
