The invention relates to a fluid flow device comprising a plurality of fluid flow functional modules each fastened on a respective individual base comprising: two parallel lateral faces via which the bases are adapted to be placed against one another in such a manner that when the bases are placed against one another, two of the bases each have one lateral face that is free; a primary fluid transport channel passing through the base to open out in its two lateral faces in identical positions; and a front face along which the module extends so as to couple an inlet channel of said module with a secondary channel extending in the base from the front face and opening out in the primary channel.
According to the invention, the device includes fastener means for fastening the bases to one another and leaktight coupling means for coupling the end of the primary channel opening out in one of the lateral faces to a source of fluid under pressure for feeding the modules.
Systems and methods for providing vacuum valve assemblies for end effectors
An end effector is disclosed for an articulated arm. The end effector includes a valve assembly including a plurality of supply channels, each supply channel including a supply conduit, a pressure sensor in fluid communication with the supply conduit, and a supply conduit plug. The supply conduit is in fluid communication with a vacuum source. During use, each supply conduit is either at vacuum such that the pressure within the supply conduit is substantially at a vacuum pressure, or is at a pressure that is substantially higher than vacuum pressure because the supply conduit plug has moved to block a portion of the supply conduit. The pressure sensor of each supply conduit provides a pressure sensor signal responsive to whether the pressure in the conduit is either substantially at vacuum or is at a pressure that is substantially higher than vacuum.
Vacuum holder with extensible skirt gasket
A vacuum holder for articles, a combination of a vacuum holder and an article, a system for holding and conveying articles, and a method for holding and conveying articles are disclosed. The vacuum holder includes a main body having a surface and an air passageway leading to the surface, and a valve joined to the main body and in fluid communication with the air passageway. The vacuum holder includes an extensible skirt gasket with an opening therein. An article can be placed adjacent to the surface of the main body, and a vacuum can be drawn through the air passageway to hold the article to the vacuum holder. The valve maintains the vacuum between the article and the vacuum holder without being connected to a vacuum source, until it is desired to release the article from the vacuum holder.
Handling device
The invention relates to a handling device for handling objects, including a base unit which extends overall in an elongate manner along a base axis from a first end to a second end, wherein a flange portion is arranged at the first end for fastening the handling device to a robot arm and wherein a pivot unit having a pivot portion is arranged at the second end, wherein the pivot portion is mounted so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis by a pivot joint, wherein the base unit has a pneumatic cylinder which is designed to pivot the pivot portion about the pivot axis, and including a couplable or coupled, pneumatically operated end effector for gripping an object.
DEVICE FOR TAKING HOLD OF AND RELEASING AN OBJECT
An apparatus for taking hold of and releasing an object, which may be surrounded by a packaging with no surface stiffness and/or be positionally unstable in some circumstances. The apparatus includes: a manually and/or machine-controlled arm which can be actively directed to the object; a suction opening arranged at the freely moving end of the arm; a suction device for providing a negative pressure required at the suction opening; and a controllable vacuum check valve at the suction opening for adjusting the negative pressure acting on the object. The device makes it possible, using suction, to securely take hold of and then correspondingly further transport objects that are difficult due to their surface properties, e.g., items to be sorted with an inhomogeneous shape and/or a porous surface and/or items to be sorted that are packed, for instance, in plastic bags.
SOFT GRIP HEAD, SOFT GRIP UNIT HAVING THE SAME, AND GRIP DEVICE HAVING THE SOFT GRIP UNIT
In a soft grip head, a soft grip unit having the soft grip head, and a grip device having the soft grip unit, the soft grip head has a suction pad and the suction pad makes contact with an object. The suction pad includes a sidewall and a plurality of suction cells. The sidewall divides the suction pad into a plurality of spaces, and both ends of each of the spaces are open. A plurality of suction cells is respectively formed by the spaces divided by the sidewall. The suction pad includes a material having a stiffness along an axial direction smaller than a stiffness along a width direction. The suction cells extend along the axial direction, and the width direction is substantially perpendicular to the axial direction.
Auto-Release Vacuum Device
A vacuum device for a material handling system includes a vacuum device body and a sealing element. The vacuum device body has a vacuum passageway in which H vacuum is generated in response to activation of a pressurized air supply that forces pressurized air through a venturi device. The sealing element moves to a sealing position to substantially seal the vacuum passageway when the air supply is activated, and is urged toward the sealing position via pressurized air that is diverted from an inlet of the vacuum device to the sealing element. The sealing element moves to substantially vent the vacuum passageway when the air supply is deactivated. The vacuum passageway may be in fluid communication with a vacuum cup, which seals against the object when the sealing element is at the sealing position and the vacuum generating device generates at least a partial vacuum in the vacuum passageway.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING DEBRIS BUILDUP IN VACUUM SENSOR LINES
A system for preventing debris buildup in vacuum sensor lines includes: a manifold, including a positive air pressure source and a controller; and one or more positive air pressure lines. Each positive air pressure line is in fluid communication with the manifold and can be placed in fluid communication with a vacuum sensor line. The controller is operably connected to and selectively activates the positive air pressure source to emit a positive flow of air, which can be directed into the one or more positive air pressure lines, and then into and through the associated vacuum sensor lines to evacuate debris. In some embodiments, a positive flow of air can also be directed through one or more vacuum lines of the end effector to promote the release of a parcel engaged with the end effector and/or clear the vacuum lines of debris.
CONTROLLING A VACUUM SYSTEM COMPRISING A VACUUM GENERATOR
A method for controlling a vacuum generator (3) in a vacuum system (10) for transportation of objects, which vacuum system (10) comprises a vacuum generator (3) driven by a compressed air flow via a first on/off valve (1), wherein the vacuum generator (3) is arranged to be brought in flow connection with the vacuum gripper means (6) comprised in the vacuum system (10), in order to supply vacuum to the vacuum gripper means (6) in result of the compressed air flow, wherein the vacuum system (10) comprises a second valve (2), which is arranged to supply compressed air into the vacuum system (10); one centralized pressure sensor (4) used for monitoring a system pressure (P) inside the vacuum system (10) and for adaptive blow-off; and a vacuum system controller (5), wherein if the on/off valve (1) is not flowing air to the vacuum generator (3), the vacuum system controller (5) indicates a state of no vacuum generation, and the second valve (2) is activated, allowing an amount of compressed air to flow into the vacuum-system (10) for blow-off, using vacuum system properties being characterized with respect to volume and flow-restriction in relation to the blow-off capacity of the blow-off function and for every release cycle wherein blow-off is terminated and excessive air injected into the system is released through the vacuum gripper means, analyzing pressure propagation following blow-off for calculating a duration of when the vacuum system (10) is being fully pressure-equalized (E) in parts of the vacuum gripper means by using a compensation factor (k), wherein the compensation factor (k) is stored and used for the next release cycle.
